Hi, RezChat
Happy Friday, RezChatters.
Linda is sleeping off a 12-hour shift and I am trying to write while dog-watching Buddy (easy) and our daughter's dog Tucker (not).
Our daughter Becca called from the airport to say they had just put down a deposit on another dog. That will make 1 dog for me and Linda; 2 for Becca, and 2 for Brad.
In all of the family, I am the only one who never wanted dogs. Now, working out of a home office, I am the one who spends most of his life with dogs.
More evidence that there is a God.

Sunday: Fav Bible passages
Jim Buffington takes us into week 2 of our 3-week series called "I Love that Passage."
It's leader's choice. The class leader gets to lead the discussion about one of his favorite Bible passages.
Jim is a Bible buff Buffington who likes to use more than one passage at a time. Here's where he's taking us: Romans 14:10-12; 2 Timothy 4:7-8
Romans 14:10-12 So where does that leave you when you criticize a brother? And where does that leave you when you condescend to a sister? I’d say it leaves you looking pretty silly—or worse. Eventually, we’re all going to end up kneeling side by side in the place of judgment, facing God. Your critical and condescending ways aren’t going to improve your position there one bit. Read it for yourself in Scripture:
“As I live and breathe,” God says,
“every knee will bow before me;
Every tongue will tell the honest truth
that I and only I am God.”
So tend to your knitting. You’ve got your hands full just taking care of your own life before God.
2 Timothy 4:6-8 You take over. I’m about to die, my life an offering on God’s altar. This is the only race worth running. I’ve run hard right to the finish, believed all the way. All that’s left now is the shouting—God’s applause! Depend on it, he’s an honest judge. He’ll do right not only by me, but by everyone eager for his coming.
Next week, it's me up to bat. My fav Bible passage in all of the Bible: Isaiah 40:27-31.
Isaiah 40:27-31 Why would you ever complain, O Jacob,
or, whine, Israel, saying,
“God has lost track of me.
He doesn’t care what happens to me”?
Don’t you know anything? Haven’t you been listening?
God doesn’t come and go. God lasts.
He’s Creator of all you can see or imagine.
He doesn’t get tired out, doesn’t pause to catch his breath.
And he knows everything, inside and out.
He energizes those who get tired,
gives fresh strength to dropouts.
For even young people tire and drop out,
young folk in their prime stumble and fall.
But those who wait upon God get fresh strength.
They spread their wings and soar like eagles,
They run and don’t get tired,
they walk and don’t lag behind.
It comes with a story, which is what makes in my favorite.

Second Sunday Social:
Pizza at church
Linda Miller says we'll be having pizza after the second worship service on Sunday.
As usual, if you can, put $5/person in the class offering sometime in the next week or two to help cover the cost for the pizza and soft drinks. (But don't skip the meal because of a crappy cash flow problem; we got your back.)
We'll take a belly count in class to see how much pizza and drinks we need, then Linda will order it after class.
Linda had initially suggested that we go out to eat at a nearby restaurant, such as Houlihan's. But I told her that it has been a while since we've had a chance to talk together about class stuff. She agreed. So if it's okay with the rest of you, we'll have pizza and conversation about any class business you might want to chat about.

Fly fishing: Oct. 24-26
Gary Schlotzhauer is leading a fly-fishing expedition and how-to in October.
I'm interested in the how-to. I've heard Jim Buffington might be going, too, though I haven't confirmed that with Jim. (I've been wrong before.)
Here's the promo from the pastor's email last week:
Guys Fishing Trip - Save the date for a guy's weekend fly-fishing trip on October 24-26. More information and registration available soon!
The group will leave sometime on Friday, drive 5 hours to the location and return on Sunday after morning devotions with Pastor Jason.
Let me know if you're interested (hit the Reply button), and I'll pass your name on to Gary. He says he has extra poles and equipment that we rookies can borrow.

On a personal note: vacation video
Last week I mentioned a little about our family visit back home in Ohio. It's a movie now.
It's about a 20 minutes long. I pieced it together from video and photos we took.
I posted it as an Unlisted video because I intended it for only family and friends; you have to know the link to see the video.
I'm sharing it with you because it gives you a chance to see and hear some of the family members I've talked about over the years.
You see our kids, Becca and Brad, along with their spouses.
You'll see Brad telling me that he ran over a skunk with my car, while driving back from an amusement park where he spent the day while I was laying 3 tons of sod.
And you'll see my mom, two brothers, two sisters and a bunch of Mom's grandkids and some great-grandkids.
Mom lives in a mother-in-law wing of a house with my sister, Louise and her husband Jerry. They're in a house the Amish built on a former Christimas tree farm. Lots of stumps in that yard.
I went there intending to lay sod in Mom's front yard, which had drainage problems; two attempts to grow grass seed had gotten washed out. My brother-in-law also wanted to tackle a pile of debris the builders had bulldozed to clear a footprint for the house. The pile had grown up with weeds and trees during the past 2 years, since the house was built.
The video shows us tackling both of those projects, with the help of my youngest brother, Darb.
We also show you how to pull a wheelie with a backhoe. Linda taped that.
And there's the neighbor coming to our rescue with a John Deere tiller, to grind up a stretch of ground that we feared we'd have to do by hand...with shovels.
Pardon the section of me shooting an assault rifle.
My son-in-law brought it along for an outing of target practice. I couldn't resist. I love target shooting, but think assault rifles are unnecessary for the public. As it turns out, I found that shooting it was much like shooting the semi-automatic .22 rifle that my Grandpa Miller had on the farm. I was surprised that it wasn't automatic. Jon, Becca's husband, said automatics were illegal. I didn't know that. That's good to know.
With all of that said, here's the link, for family and friends:

That includes Brothers and Sisters, carefully chosen.
Have a wonderful weekend. You deserve it. You know you do.
