Hi, RezChat
Welcome to Friday.
Terry, Cris, Linda and I will be going to see Monty Python's Spamalot, a musical comedy ripped off from the film classic "Monty Python and the Holy Grail."
It's at the Jewish Community Center on Satuday evening. Renay Kessler is hooking us up with the tickets, and I think she'll try to sit with us if she can get away from her job at the ticket booth long enough to enjoy the show.
   I think it starts at 7 p.m, Tickets $11/soul.
In case you'd like to come, too.
   Here's Renay's email address: I'm here.

Sunday: Where have miracles gone?
Robert Ladd returns just in time to answer the question we've always wondered about:
Where Have All the Miracles Gone?
He told me he knows, and he'll tell us on Sunday.
   Bible passages:
John 4:48; John 14:12-14; Acts 19:11-12
John 4:46-48 Now he was back in Cana of Galilee, the place where he made the water into wine. Meanwhile in Capernaum, there was a certain official from the king’s court whose son was sick. When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went and asked that he come down and heal his son, who was on the brink of death. Jesus put him off: “Unless you people are dazzled by a miracle, you refuse to believe.”
John 14:11-14 “Believe me: I am in my Father and my Father is in me. If you can’t believe that, believe what you see—these works. The person who trusts me will not only do what I’m doing but even greater things, because I, on my way to the Father, am giving you the same work to do that I’ve been doing. You can count on it. From now on, whatever you request along the lines of who I am and what I am doing, I’ll do it. That’s how the Father will be seen for who he is in the Son. I mean it. Whatever you request in this way, I’ll do.
Acts 19:11-12 God did powerful things through Paul, things quite out of the ordinary. The word got around and people started taking pieces of clothing—handkerchiefs and scarves and the like—that had touched Paul’s skin and then touching the sick with them. The touch did it—they were healed and whole.
This is a one-week wonder, so enjoy it while you can.
Afterward we'll head into a 3-week series called the Three Faces of Jesus:
•Jesus, warm and fuzzy
•Jesus, bringing down the hammer
•Jesus, at the end of his rope

Second Sunday Social: August 10
We'll have a potluck grill at the new and improved Rock House Estate, home of Dave and Lisa Rock and their dogs, all soon to be missing the Beloved Daughter, who will be leaving for college any second now and will be gone for the rest of her life.
   Wine helps.

Train ride to wineries:
November 7-9
Linda Miller is working on a weekend excursion for the class:
a train ride to a quaint German-style city in wine country along the banks of the Missouri River: Hermann, Missouri.
She is lining up accommodations at two facilities (enough for 14 people) along the Missouri River. We will leave from Union Station Friday afternoon and return early afternoon on Sunday.
Linda has a temporary signup list. For reservations to travel together on the Amtrak, she'll need a count of committed souls by mid-August.
More info later. Signup sheet will be available on Sunday.
