First United Methodist Church of San Diego, California, United States "Heart of Christianity" Sunday Lesson Questions for Sunday, 7 December 2014
Hi to All:
SCHEDULE ALERT: We will meet at 10:45 am for a 40 minute discussion of Chap. 14, and will adjourn at 11:25, so those who want to go to the lecture in the Cove at 11:30 may do so.  I encourage all to go.  The speaker is Mark Arabo, National Leader and spokesperson for ending the genocide in Iraq and Syria.   He will speak on this subject.
Here are some issues and questions to ponder for next Sunday's discussion over Chapter 14.
1. P. 184, middle Parag.  According to Aslan, how are Paul and Luke connected?
2. P. 184, middle Parag.  Aslan writes: "...[the book of] Acts is less an account of the apostles than it is a reverential biography of Paul..."  Your thoughts?
3. Pp. 184-187.  According to Aslan, what gave rise to Paul's acerbic attitude toward the apostles in Jerusalem?
4. P. 188, middle Parag.  Is Aslan correct in his assertion that is written in this paragraph?  Explain.
5. Pp. 188-189.  What do you think of the author's explanation of how Paul sees Jesus?
6. Pp. 190-191.  What do you think of the author's narrative of Paul's two meetings with the leaders of the "mother assembly" in Jerusalem?  Please explain.
7. P. 192, 2nd & 3rd Parags.  Can you see why Aslan is reviled by some critics today?  Your thoughts, please.
Although we'll have a shorter discussion than usual, I look forward to a robust conversation.  Again, Nota Bene: we'll meet at 10:45 am and discuss Chap. 14 until 11:25.  Meanwhile, best wishes and hasta domingo, Ben
