To our Congregation Beth Israel Family:
Along with you, we received Cantor Shpall's letter to our Board of Directors announcing her appointment as the new Cantor at Congregation Beth Am in Los Altos Hills, California. We also feel a mixture of excitement for Cantor Shpall's new opportunity along with sadness that she will be leaving our holy congregation.
Cantor Shpall has been part of our congregational family since 2007 and has left an indelible mark on our synagogue through the beauty of her voice and depth of her heart. We are deeply grateful for her warmth and loving embrace of our families and the Jewish community.
In the coming weeks we will be sending you the date for a "Farwell Shabbat" Service in honor of the Cantor and her family. Please let us know if you are interested in assisting us in organizing the event. We know so many of you will want to join with us and wish her all the best of our love.
We also know that many of you will have questions regarding transition and next steps. We want to assure you with full faith and confidence that our Board of Directors will discuss all of our options moving forward so that we can strategically and methodically begin a search process at the appropriate time.
Congregation Beth Israel has been blessed with a consistent clergy team of three professionals for the past eight years and we will proceed in the spirit of providing excellent clergy leadership both on and off the pulpit. Additionally, we are pleased to share that both of our Rabbis have extended their contracts, which were in no small measure a reflection of our amazingly warm membership.
For now, please join us in sharing our most sincere Mazel Tov to her, Marcel, Sam and Ella as they begin this new journey.
L'Shalom,
Jay Stein, President Rabbi Stephen Kahn
