"An opportunity to care for refugees through a United Methodist ministry in San Diego" Reverend Brian Kent from Hope United Methodist Church in San Diego, California, United States for Tuesday, 7 May 2016
Dear Members of Hope,
Our Outreach/Missions Com. has just learned of an urgent need here in San Diego and we are hoping that you can help. Christ United Methodist Ministry Center (formerly Christ UMC) is housing a large group of Haitian refugees who just arrived, legally, in San Diego. They left a country full of poverty and violence, still recovering from an earthquake in 2010, journeyed through 10 countries to get here, many of their members dying on the way. You can read about their plight on the Ministry Center’s website, Christsd.com, under “June 6, 2016.” The bottom line is that there is a desperate need for blankets and food for these people. Hope is collecting blankets (bring them to the church office this week or to church this weekend) and money for the Ministry Center to purchase food (put your donation in the Special Offering envelope and mark it “Haiti”). If you have any questions, contact Terry and Larry Sieck,858-549-3984, tfsieck@yahoo.com.
This is an opportunity for us to truly be Christ’s servants right here at home.
