In 2 Timothy 2:15[2 Timothy 2:15 Do all you can to present yourself to God as someone worthy of his approval, as a worker with no need to be ashamed, because he deals straightforwardly with the Word of the Truth.], the apostle Paul writes, Study to show thyself approved unto God. Often times we can lead hectic lives. Work, family obligations, etc. can sidetrack us from focusing on our spiritual growth. One might spend several hours or more watching television or other entertainment, but can't seem to find time for worship or Bible study. If we allow ourselves to become sidetracked we cannot grow spiritually. How can we lead others to Christ when we have not equipped ourselves to lead? Just like flowers need rain and sunlight to grow, we need our Lord and Savior to direct our path. Spending time with Him in worship, prayer and Bible studying are essential to our spiritual growth. What helps me is to not only attend Sunday worship services, but also to take advantage of Sunday school and Wednesday night Bible study. Matthew 18:20[Matthew 18:20 For wherever two or three are assembled in my name, I am there with them.”], Jesus said, Where two or three gather in my name, there am I in the midst of them. What an awesome opportunity we all have to be in His presence.

Sermon Series Highlights
Temptation
For the past few Sunday's, Pastor Winston has been teaching about Temptation and how to flee from it. Temptation is impossible to avoid and everyone faces it; even Jesus was tempted by Satan himself. Although we get tempted it is extremely important not to give in to the things that may tempt us. It may look, sound, and smell nice but there is always a hook behind the bait. Pastor Winston further explained the bait and hook concept with the story of David and Bathsheba (starting in 2 Samuel 11). He said that if David knew that Bathsheba was going to cost him everything then maybe he would have ignored the bait. Then in another sermon for this series, pastor spoke on the cups of iniquity. In this sermon he explained how sin is never satisfied and how it will get us into deeper trouble every time we submit to it. The enemy will always try to tempt us but it is important to pray during these times so God can be a present help. We don't want to fall into temptation and ruin every wonderful thing that God has planned for our life. To watch these sermons please visit our Facebook page or come visit us on Sunday's, we would love to see you there!
