"Important to God"
Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 16:6-121 Samuel 16:6 When they had come, he looked at Eli’av and said, “This has to be Adonai’s anointed one, here before him.” 7 But Adonai said to Sh’mu’el, “Don’t pay attention to how he looks or how tall he is, because I have rejected him. Adonai doesn’t see the way humans see — humans look at the outward appearance, but Adonai looks at the heart.” 8 Then Yishai called Avinadav and presented him to Sh’mu’el; but he said, “Adonai hasn’t chosen this one either.” 9 Yishai presented Shammah; again Sh’mu’el said, “Adonai hasn’t chosen this one either.” 10 Yishai presented seven of his sons to Sh’mu’el; but Sh’mu’el told Yishai, “Adonai has not chosen these. 11 Are all your sons here?” Sh’mu’el asked Yishai. He replied, “There is still the youngest; he’s out there tending the sheep.” Sh’mu’el said to Yishai, “Send and bring him back, because we won’t sit down to eat until he gets here.” 12 He sent and brought him in. With ruddy cheeks, red hair and bright eyes, he was a good-looking fellow. Adonai said, “Stand up and anoint him; he’s the one.”

In our Bible verses, we learn that God told the prophet Samuel to go to Bethlehem to choose one of Jesse's sons to be the king of Israel. But Jesse only took some of his sons to see Samuel. He left his youngest son, David, to take care of the sheep.
Why didn't Jesse take David to see Samuel? Maybe Jesse thought that David was not important. But God thought that David was important. He chose David to be a king over all Israel. When David came to Samuel, God told him, "He is the one" (verse 12b).
Sometimes people reject us and think that we are not important. But God thinks we are important! God made each one of us, and He thinks that we are special. We are so special to God that He sent His only Son to die for us.
Maybe you are feeling unimportant today. Remember that God loves you and thinks you are very important.[SKQ]
"God doesn't look at what people see. People judge by what is
on the outside, but the Lord looks at the heart."[1 Samuel 16:7b]
PRAYER: God, thank You for loving me and making me feel important. In Jesus' name. Amen.
