First Person: Part 3
From Outside To Inside
It’s always fun to hear a great story and hear it told by someone who was actually there. It’s why reporters try and find eye-witnesses to include in their recap. It’s even why we take so many photos during a great event, so we can relive it as we tell our friends all about it. And when it comes to the life of Jesus, we have access to a group of 3 books of the Bible that work together to chronicle His life and ministry. Join us as we journey through the synoptic gospels together and get a first-hand look at Jesus. We will hear from Jesus himself, learn about His life and ministry, and dig into why these events and stories from thousands of years ago are still so alive and meaningful to us today.
MARK 7:24-29 (NTL)
24 Then Jesus left Galilee and went north to the region of Tyre. He didn’t want anyone to know which house he was staying in, but he couldn’t keep it a secret. 25 Right away a woman who had heard about him came and fell at his feet. Her little girl was possessed by an evil spirit, 26 and she begged him to cast out the demon from her daughter. Since she was a Gentile, born in Syrian Phoenicia, 27 Jesus told her,“First I should feed the children—my own family, the Jews. It isn’t right to take food from the children and throw it to the dogs.” 28 She replied, “That’s true, Lord, but even the dogs under the table are allowed to eat the scraps from the children’s plates.” 29 “Good answer!” he said. “Now go home, for the demon has left your daughter.”

It is with great excitement and joy that we introduce the new Lead Pastor of Torrey Pines Church, Dr. Robert Flores!
Dr. Flores was born in El Paso, Texas as the youngest of four children. After graduating from high school, he attended L.I.F.E. Bible College in Los Angeles, where he discovered both excellent theology and Tommy’s chili cheese burgers. In 1979, he married the lovely DeeDee Hardeman and has been enjoying the wild rides of life and ministry with her ever since. Robert received his Master of Divinity degree from Asbury Seminary in 1985 and his Doctor of Ministry degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in 2002. DeeDee holds both a Bachelor of Arts in Ministry and Leadership and a Master of Arts in Strategic Leadership from Life Pacific College. They are the proud parents of Kristin and Bo and the exceedingly proud grandparents of Milo (1 year) and Austyn (6 months).
In addition to his hobbies of riding his Harley and playing golf, the great passion of Robert’s life has been pastoring. In 1985 he and DeeDee planted North Dallas Foursquare Church and in 1994 they planted West Salem Foursquare Church. After serving as President of Life Pacific College from 2008-2012, Robert and DeeDee planted The Bridge Church in Pasadena, CA.
Through the course of their life together, Robert and DeeDee have shared a deep and contagious desire to see people connected to Jesus Christ in a meaningful and significant way. They have a unique gift for sharing their faith in a way that is both attractive and encouraging to the person who feels far from God while still being challenging and thought-provoking for the person who has been walking with Jesus for many years. Through their leadership and vision, we believe that Torrey Pines Church will be an ever-increasing community of faith that serves as a beacon of hope to our friends, neighbors, and community.
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Robert and DeeDee Flores to Torrey Pines Church!THIS WEEKEND:
MEET N' GREET
This Sunday, June 12 - after both services
Get to know Torrey Pines Church's new Lead Pastor Dr. Robert Flores and new Executive Pastor Brian Berry. After the Traditional service there'll be a continental-style breakfast and after the Modern service there'll be pizza!UP WEEK
This Sunday is "Up Week" for all children and students
It's Up Week at Torrey Pines Church! This is the weekend, just like at school, where your kids move "up" a grade level in our Torrey Pines Kids and Students services. This may mean that your kid changes rooms! Or it may not! Confused yet? Probably! Here's the bottom line: Just ask your kid. (It's kind of like figuring out how to use the TV remote or play Angry Birds: You have to get your kid to show you how it works.) Also, to make the process super easy, we will have lots of helpful folks stationed all around campus this weekend to make sure you (and your kid) get where they need to be! Just know that it's Up Week!EVERGREENS MINSITRY:
