Chapter 17 – Loss of the Masculine Emasculates the Feminine
1. “Women are voluptuous…or…motherly.
a. This is the classic Madonna/whore dichotomy.
b. Is this a new idea for you?
2. “Women are not meant to be “female females”. They were born to be fully functioning co-creators of the human race, of human civilization, of human equality….to deny them the masculine or active side of their humanity is to deny them humanity to the full.”
a. Women - Have you experienced the denial of your full humanity?
b. Would you share an experience?
3. Helpmates – otherwise translated as “a power equal to.”
a. Does this change your concept of the story in Genesis?
Chapter 18 the Need for the Feminine in Masculinity
1. Men – were you raised with the idea that some things were OK for girls but not for boys?
2. Were you told that men don’t show emotions?
a. Do you still accept that? If not, what happened?
3. “The great question of life is, What is it to be human?”
a. What is your answer to this question?
Chapter 19 Liberation in Loss
1. “It’s difficult to know when loss is really loss or gain come from another direction.”
a. Have you ever experienced a loss that later allowed a gain?
2. “Loss frees us to begin again, to be seen differently…”
a. Has this been your experience?
3. “No one ever steps into the same river twice. Life moves inexorably on.”
a. What does this mean to you?
