Resurrection Blue Springs,
I hope you're doing well on this damp Friday morning. Our plans are coming together for our Fall Festival on October 30th. We are working to make this event even bigger and better this year. One of the greatest needs for young families today is to find a place where they can make deep connections and find friends for the journey. This is one of our best opportuntities to invite our neighbors to come see our place, meet other families and discover that this might just be the place they're looking for. Therefore, it's important that we have plenty of people at the event to offer a warm welcome, to provide directions and trunks to trick or treat from, to run the games and man the food stations and more. If you can't be there in person you can still join in by donating candy for the trunks, or decorated cupcakes for the cake walk or, even more important, you can extend an invitation to a friend or neighbor to come join the fun. We want to fill the parking lot with little monsters and princesses, with laughter and fun for all. You can sign up to help with the event this Sunday.
Our 2017 Guide to Giving and Commitment Card will be given out this weekend as you come into worship and posted online as well. I hope you will spend time over this next week reflecting on your commitment to grow in your faith through worship, learning, serving, sharing and giving and consider how you will “step up” in those areas in 2017. Then next week during worship you will have the opportunity to present your commitment to giving for 2017. We ask you to prayerfully consider how you will step up to invest in Resurrection’s vision to change lives, transform communities and renew the church.
This is going to be a special Sunday in worship as we present Bibles to our 3rd graders during worship. This is a milestone in their faith journey. Our prayer is that this gift will help them grow in their relationship with God. If you have a 3rd grader and would like them to receive a personal Bible this Sunday, please email Diane Enlow@cor.org - even if you are unable to attend worship on Sunday.
Finally, if you've been considering joining Resurrection Blue Springs, come have coffee with the pastor on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 6:30 pm and take the first step toward joining the church. You'll learn about the history of Resurrection, the beliefs and traditions of the United Methodist Church and get to know more about your pastor's story. Following the presentation, we will have a short ceremony for those who choose to join at that time. The link to sign up is below. Be sure to take a close look at all the other upcoming events and activities coming up too . . .
3rd grade Bible presentation – Each year in October, we continue the Methodist tradition of giving Bibles to our 3rd grade students. As their faith family we are excited to provide this age-appropriate Bible, and our prayer is that this gift will help them go deeper in their relationship with God. The presentation ceremony will take place during worship servicesSunday, Oct. 16. Let us know if you have a 3rd-grader, email Diane.Enlow@cor.org.
