"First Things First" by Gary Huff
Psalm 5:1 (0) For the leader. On wind instruments. A psalm of David:
2 (1) Give ear to my words, Adonai,
consider my inmost thoughts.
3 (2) Listen to my cry for help,
my king and my God, for I pray to you.
4 (3) Adonai, in the morning you will hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my needs before you
and wait expectantly.
5 (4) For you are not a God
who takes pleasure in wickedness;
evil cannot remain with you.
6 (5) Those who brag cannot stand before your eyes,
you hate all who do evil,
7 (6) you destroy those who tell lies,
Adonai detests men of blood and deceivers.
8 (7) But I can enter your house
because of your great grace and love;
I will bow down toward your holy temple
in reverence for you.
9 (8) Lead me, Adonai, in your righteousness
because of those lying in wait for me;
make your way straight before me.
10 (9) For in their mouths there is nothing sincere,
within them are calamities,
their throats are open tombs,
they flatter with their tongues.
11 (10) God, declare them guilty!
Let them fall through their own intrigues,
For their many crimes, throw them down;
since they have rebelled against you.
12 (11) But let all who take refuge in you rejoice,
let them forever shout for joy!
Shelter them; and they will be glad,
those who love your name.

In Psalm 5:3, David portrays for us a poetic view of seeking God. He shows us three distinct truths we need to understand completely.
In the morning: David approached God before everything else. Communion with God should be at the forefront of our minds and not an afterthought. Each day, give God your best and the firstfruits of your heart.
David also knew his voice [would be] heard. He didn’t wonder if God would hear his prayers, but knew that God wanted to hear. David spoke boldly, because even when he didn’t know what to say, he knew God would hear him.
David didn’t just say a prayer and go about his business, but he wait[ed] expectantly. Too often we are guilty of giving God a list like we might give to Santa Claus–and then go about our business. David understood, as we should understand, that prayer is a two-way street. God wants to speak to us and guide us.
Approach God with boldness and expect an answer. Seek God and find great blessing in communing with Him.

Hymn for Today: "Behold the Throne of Grace" by John Newton

1. Behold the throne of grace,
The promise calls us near,
There Jesus shows a smiling face
And waits to answer prayer.
2. That rich atoning blood,
Which sprinkled round we see,
Provides for those who come to God
An all prevailing plea.
3. My soul ask what thou wilt,
Thou canst not be too bold;
Since His own blood for thee He spilt,
What else can He withhold.
4. Beyond thy utmost wants
His love and pow’r can bless;
To praying souls He always grants,
More than they can express.
5. Since ’tis the Lord’s command,
My mouth I open wide;
Lord open Thou Thy bounteous hand,
That I may be supplied.
6. Thine image, Lord, bestow,
Thy presence and Thy love;
I ask to serve Thee here below,
And reign with Thee above.
7. Teach me to live by faith,
Conform my will to Thine;
Let me victorious be in death,
And then in glory shine.
8. If Thou these blessings give,
And wilt my portion be;
Cheerful the world’s poor toys I leave,
To them who know not Thee.

Thought of the Day: Mark 1:
35 Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Yeshua got up, left, went away to a lonely spot and stayed there praying.
-------
Please Pray: That many people in Nicarague will come to Yeshua the Messiah and receive the fullness of the Ruach HaKodesh.
