The Deaf Devo from The Deaf Missions in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States "Gift of Life" Bible Reading: John 14:1-4 for Thursday, 6 October 2016
John 14:1 “Don’t let yourselves be disturbed. Trust in God and trust in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many places to live. If there weren’t, I would have told you; because I am going there to prepare a place for you. 3 Since I am going and preparing a place for you, I will return to take you with me; so that where I am, you may be also. 4 Furthermore, you know where I’m going; and you know the way there.”

Soon my husband was going into surgery. He was donating one of his kidneys to a young person who was very sick. I asked my family and friends to pray for him.
In response to my request, my brother sent me a message that included verse 2 from our Bible Reading. "There are many rooms in my Father's house. I would not tell you this if it were not true. I am going there to prepare a place for you." When I read that, I was afraid. Was my husband going to die? What if my husband died during surgery but the young person's life was saved? Then I thought about Jesus. He willingly gave up His life so that we can have the gift of eternal life.
I praise God that my husband got through the surgery fine. But I also praise God for reminding me about His precious gift of life through Jesus. We will all face times of sickness or death during our lives. Ask God to help you use these experiences to remember Jesus' sacrifice on the cross.[JS]
"Jesus answered, 'I am the way,
the truth, and the life. The only
way to the Father is through me.'"[John 14:6]

PRAYER: Dear God, thank You that Jesus was willing to die for me. In His name. Amen.
