Hello Resurrection Blue Springs!
We had a great evening last Friday night at our All Church Gathering. Joanie Barber took first place and Patsy Shipley a close second in the chili cook-off. The judging was a challenge for our panel of judges with 16 delicious crocks of chili to choose from! It was fun to recount all the amazing ministry and mission work that took place in 2016. It was also great to see the synergy in the room as together we did some brainstorming about how we might reach new people for Christ and build community inside and outside of our church walls going forward. We're compiling these ideas and adding them to what we have already gathered to refine our priorities as a campus for 2017 and beyond.
We're hearing a strong desire to increase our footprint here in Eastern Jackson County, to continue developing leaders within the church to serve our growing community and to encourage this leadership to take risks and to be more innovative as we seek to reach the non-religious and nominally religious in our community. We'll continue to refine these into action steps as we move forward. We also heard a message from Pastor Adam, via video, which was made especially for our Blue Springs campus. I thought you might enjoy hearing it, if you weren't able to attend, or listening to it again. Here is the link.
I'm excited to attend the Women's Inspired for Life Conference this weekend in Leawood with our group from Blue Springs. We'll be joining over 1,200 women there. Then on Sunday we continue our sermon series exploring the top fears of our congregation and how we might live into 2017 with courage and hope. This week we explore the fear of change. We'll also be sharing in Holy Communion together.
Before I close, I want to encourage you to sign up for our Valentine's Dinner on February 10th. We have a special evening planned with a great meal and some fun afterwards. We need your sign-ups in order to inform the caterer about food and to line up enough helpers for the children's Valentine party that will be happening simultaneously for those parents who sign their children up for TGIF. The links for each are below. While you're signing up, you might go ahead and register for a blood donation for our next blood drive on Thursday, February 16. It can save a life.
In the meantime, below you’ll find other ways to serve and get connected to our congregation.
