Autism Speaks in New York, New York, United States for Friday, 28 July 2017 "Angela Geiger, Autism Speaks"
In the wee hours of the morning the U.S. Senate failed to pass legislation that makes changes to the Affordable Care Act. Proposed reductions to Medicaid have also been set aside.
We at Autism Speaks are grateful for the thousands of autism and disability advocates who called on their Senators to #SaveMedicaid. We also thank the Senators who took the time to listen to and understand the concerns of our community about the changes to Medicaid.
But the issue is not off the table. There's still more work to do.
More than 500,000 of our fellow Americans with disabilities still wait for services on Medicaid waiver lists around the country. Gary Lee, it's up to us to urge Congress and governors around the country to make it their priority to make these services more widely accessible and encourage innovation for the services that do exist.
Please sign up to be an advocate when the millions of Americans living with autism — and all Americans — need our voices now more than ever.
Thanks for all you do,
Angela
