Reflecting God – Embrace Holy Living - WordAction - The Foundry Publishing House of Kansas City, Missouri, United States - The Global Church of the Nazarene for Saturday, 18 November 2017 ""Result: Redeemed People" by Renee DeVault - Acts 2:29-41
Acts 2:29 “Brothers, I know I can say to you frankly that the patriarch David died and was buried — his tomb is with us to this day. 30 Therefore, since he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn an oath to him that one of his descendants would sit on his throne, 31 he was speaking in advance about the resurrection of the Messiah, that it was he who was not abandoned in Sh’ol and whose flesh did not see decay. 32 God raised up this Yeshua! And we are all witnesses of it!
33 “Moreover, he has been exalted to the right hand of God; has received from the Father what he promised, namely, the Ruach HaKodesh; and has poured out this gift, which you are both seeing and hearing. 34 For David did not ascend into heaven. But he says,
35 ‘Adonai said to my Lord,
“Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”’[Acts 2:35 Psalm 110:1]
36 Therefore, let the whole house of Isra’el know beyond doubt that God has made him both Lord and Messiah — this Yeshua, whom you executed on a stake!”
37 On hearing this, they were stung in their hearts; and they said to Kefa and the other emissaries, “Brothers, what should we do?” 38 Kefa answered them, “Turn from sin, return to God, and each of you be immersed on the authority of Yeshua the Messiah into forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Ruach HaKodesh! 39 For the promise is for you, for your children, and for those far away — as many as Adonai our God may call!”
40 He pressed his case with many other arguments and kept pleading with them, “Save yourselves from this perverse generation!”
41 So those who accepted what he said were immersed, and there were added to the group that day about three thousand people.

"Redeemed" by Fanny J. Crosby
1. Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it!
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
redeemed through His infinite mercy,
His child, and forever I am.
Refrain: Redeemed, redeemed,
redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.
2. Redeemed, and so happy in Jesus,
no language my rapture can tell;
I know that the light of His presence
with me doth continually dwell.
Refrain: Redeemed, redeemed,
redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.
3. I think of my blessed Redeemer,
I think of Him all the day long;
I sing, for I cannot be silent;
His love is the theme of my song.
Refrain: Redeemed, redeemed,
redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.

Thought for Today:
In union with him, through the shedding of his blood, we are set free — our sins are forgiven; this accords with the wealth of the grace(Ephesians 1:7)

By definition, turning toward something implies turning away from something else. In this case, Peter called Jews from all over the world to turn toward Jesus and away from the corruption that enslaved their generation, keeping them separated from God. Three thousand of those listening chose to accept this call. Through this, we see the result of carrying out Jesus’ mission. When we generously spread His message through the prompting and the power of the Holy Spirit, the result is redeemed people.
Jews who repented and accepted the new life of Christ were saved from the trap of going the same direction their generation and world were going. The same is true for those who accept Christ in our generation. The message we bring urges people to accept redemption and accept that good can come from the evil that surrounds us. We become a people set apart. Those who were once condemned and hopeless are given a new life and the ability to be holy and in relationship with God. This is the result of carrying out our Lord’s mission on earth.
