Greetings RezDowntowners,
I hope this Friday note finds you doing well, fills you with a sense of peace and reminds you of God's presence in the ordinary! This morning, after I prayed and committed my life to God's will, I paused to acknowledge several reasons I have to give thanks. What are you thankful for today? My hope is that after you read this, you might pause to identify at least one thing you have to be thankful for.
This weekend, we conclude our sermon series on The Reformation by taking a look at how God calls us to carry the church forward into the future. Pastor Adam will address church history and invite us to imagine how God might be shaping our future. I hope you'll invite friends and join us for this great conclusion. Also, as a reminder to those of you who worship on Sunday morning, please know that this Sunday is the official 'Fall Back' Sunday...meaning we get an extra hour of sleep, so take advantage of Daylight Saving Time and turn your clocks back!
Lastly, I hope you've noticed the addition of care ministers at worship services the past couple weekends! We have introduced them during each service so that you might see them as a resource for personal discussion and prayer. Our care ministers at RezDT are lay volunteers, many of whom have had life experiences that uniquely prepared them for this role and are known for their gifts of faithfulness, wisdom, and compassion. Pastor Anne has led them through training and meets with them regularly for guidance and support. If you have a care need on the weekend, I invite you to seek out a care minister before or after worship. You can also submit a prayer request in worship or online at http://cor.org/downtown/care/prayer, call the church office at 816-979-1330, or email a request to Anne.Williams@cor.org. I hope you feel that our community provides the prayerful support you need. It is a privilege to share life with you!
I look forward to seeing you this weekend in worship and hope you have a Friday full of grace!
Pastor Scott
