HEART FOR HOPE by Cindy Gleason
Be the Light — a chance for Hope to help those affected by the disasters in 2017.
Beginning April 7th, the Hope Disaster Relief Team will be collecting Health Kits to be delivered to UMCOR-West. Please make or donate supplies for the kits and deposit in the plastic bin by the food cart. It is a fun and easy project that can bring lots of hope to those affected by natural and man-made disasters. In addition, the kids will be putting together kits from the donated supplies on the last weekend of
April. Last year, they put together over 100 kits!
Each kit is made up of all new items:
• 1 Hand Towel
• 1 Nail file or Nail Clippers
• 1 Wash Cloth
• 1 Adult Toothbrush (wrapped or in original plastic)
• 1 Wrapped Bar of Soap (no moisterizing ones please)
• 6 Adult Adhesive Bandages (in the wrapper)
• 1 Large or Medium Comb
• 1 gallon re-sealable plastic bag
Place the hand towel down with the washcloth in the middle. On the washcloth, place the rest of the items, except the bag. Roll and tuck it all together and place it in the bag and seal it.
Thank you for your help and support!!
THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT FOR OUR TROOPS
The collection of the items for the deployed troops was another HOPE success.
We focused on five useful items that are needed in their comfort care packages, and we can be proud of the response. One hundred and thirty-three items went to Freedom Station on Thursday, March 29th.
Last year we helped send care packages to those who had deployed to Iraq and these packages will go to the group who replaced last year’s troops. What seems like a small gesture means a lot to those far from home and their families.
Thank you for your caring for those who give of themselves for all of us and are proud to do so. (Norma Dahlvig, Outreach/Missions Committee member)
