Pastor Penny Ellwood's Enote for Friday, 11 May 2018 from The United Methodist of the Resurrection Blue Springs in Blue Springs, Missouri, United States
Friday, May 11, 2018
Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs!
I am sitting under the covered deck this morning listening to the thunder and watching the lightening. One of my favorite things to do. There’s nothing like a good spring thunderstorm.
The staff has been busy this week finalizing our plans for this summer. With only a few short weeks of school left, we are in the final countdown. We are going to have some great ways to connect in Christian community with events like movie nights, Vacation Bible Camp, Potlucks with the Pastor, summer studies, an evening of Hymns and Brew, serve days, fun kid and teen events, and more. The details will be coming soon but plan now to make this a summer at Resurrection!
This weekend in worship we're continuing in our series of sermons on What Jesus Would Say to...and this week, in light of Mother’s day, we're shifting our focus onto Mothers and Children. We'll be looking specifically at Mary, the mother of Jesus, and what Jesus would say to her. Also, at the conclusion of every worship service we'll have a special gift for every woman in attendance.
The final sermon in the series on May 20th will be on what Jesus would say to our new graduates. If you have a college or High School student graduating this spring this would be a great message for them to hear. We will have a special gift for those graduates in attendance. We would also love to include a photo of your graduate in our worship service. You can send these here.
I hope you have a great Friday and I look forward to seeing you this Sunday.
Pastor Penny

Waypoint Online Men's Group
A waypoint is defined as a stopping place on a journey. Wednesdays from 8:30-9:30 pm via computer or the ZOOM app. Join us online each week at https://zoom.us/j/634319787 Click online here to register. Contact Mike Ash for more information.

We are starting a study on "Women of the Bible: A One Year Devotional Study" as our guide. We meet virtually on Thursday nights at 9 pm and will be doing a different woman each week. VBC is a week of fun, friendship and faith-building designed to help kids and families choose kind…just like Jesus! We are offering evening times the first two days to increase family involvement with a fun movie night, then morning times on the weekend to help with those busy schedules! The last day we will end our time during church and celebrate with a family picnic and water slide after church. Everyone is welcome!
Adult Volunteers
We have spots for people with varying interests including behind the scenes, decorating, greeting, group guides, recreation, craft, acting, music and missions. All are important!
Youth Volunteers

If you are a current 6th–12th grader, this is your time to shine! As older “kids”, you have an opportunity to inspire and lead K-5th graders in a very special way. Jump on board and make a difference this summer!
