Weekly eNote from Pastor Jason Gant for Thursday, 10 May 2018 - The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection West in Olathe, Kansas, United States
Resurrection West,
Thanks to the hundreds of you who enjoyed hot dogs, brats, and burgers after worship last Sunday to support our rezlife student mission teams to Iowa and Louisiana this summer! The two teams are coming together now and will surely grow in discipleship as they become the hands and feet of Christ on summer mission.
Join us this weekend on Serve Saturday (formerly FaithWork) from 9:00am-11:30am, followed by a great day of worship Sunday as Pastor Adam continues our series asking; What would Jesus say to parents on Mother’s Day? We will be celebrating all the women who make an impact on our lives!
This week our purpose, mission, and vision statements are being installed on the walls of the Sanctuary and Narthex. You will notice fresh paint throughout the buildings as well. A special thanks to our Facilities and Worship Arts teams working hard to create environments that welcome us into growth as disciples and remind us of who we are (our purpose: To be used by God to build Christian community where non-religious and nominally religious people are becoming deeply committed Christians), where we are going (our vision; To be used by God to change lives, strengthen churches, and transform the world), and how we will get there (our journey; To know, love, and serve God)!
I am so excited to spend time in KiDSCOR this Sunday in every service as we invite K-5th graders to ask any question they want about God, faith, life, and the church. I'll welcome you in worship at each service and then head to KiDSCOR Sunday School to see if they can "Stump Pastor Jason", so send them with questions they've always wanted to know!
Lastly, we are in the countdown to summer and finalizing plans for some great ways to connect in Christian community with events like movie nights, worship at the lake, summer studies, Mega Mission serve day, fun kid and teen events, and more. Details coming soon. Plan now to make this summer a summer of faith growth at RezWest!
Look forward to worship on Mother's Day,
Jason

Parking Lot Attendants Needed!
There is an urgent need for parking lot attendants at the 11am Sunday worship service. Serve God by safely guiding in the many people who worship here every week. Consultants tell us the first 11 minutes is "key" for the guest experience. The parking ministry is the first to welcome our guests and this is so important! If you are interested in serving, please contact Allan Henning at anhenning@gmail.com.
Serve Saturday (formerly Faithwork), this weekend!
Join us on May 12, 9–11:30 am, RezWest Sanctuary. All ages welcome. No sign-up required. We gather monthly to live out our faith in service to God and our community. Each month is different and always a great time! For more information, contactChris.Holliday@cor.org.
Ask Anything! – KiDSCOR, May 13
It’s “Ask Anything with Pastor Jason: K-5th Edition!” On May 13, K-5th grade kids will welcome a special guest in their KiDSCOR classes— Pastor Jason! He will join each class for Ask Anything, a time for kids to ask any and all questions. Think you can stump the pastor? Kids are invited to prepare their best questions and join us on the 13th!
Congrats 2018 Grads!
Congratulations to our 2018 high school and college graduates! On Sunday, May 20, graduates will receive a special gift.
Hygiene Bag Donations
Some families/individuals are forced to make tough financial decisions about buying the daily essentials many take for granted. To help meet this need directly, our United Methodist Women’s Circle and our Monday Women’s Bible Study group are collecting personal hygiene essentials to bag and distribute to those in-need in the surrounding community. The items needed are as follows: large rolls of toilet paper, large bars of bath soap, large shampoos, large spray deodorants, toothpaste, toothbrushes (for all ages), laundry detergent pods and dishwashing soap. Please place your donations in the mission bins in the back of the sanctuary by Thursday, May 31. Thank you for making a positive difference in our community. For more information, contactChris.Holliday@cor.org.
