The Rev. Nathan J. Morgan, 65, a clergy member of the Great Plains United Methodist Conference born Feb. 2, 1953 in Hays, Kansas, to Joe D. and Ella (Sanders) Morgan, died June 28, 2018 in Halstead, Kansas.
Nathan graduated from Hobbs High School in 1971 and Panhandle State University in 1975. He married Lorraine G. Ivie of Guymon, Oklahoma on July 6, 1976, and with her embarked on a life of ministry as he graduated from Phillips Theological Seminary and was ordained as an elder in the United Methodist Church in 1979. He spent his adult life as an itinerant pastor in the United Methodist Church, serving churches in Jefferson, Renfrow, and Ponca City in Oklahoma; and Argonia, Goodland, Kendall, Lakin, Wichita Mt. Vernon, Anthony, and Newton in Kansas.
Nathan is survived by his wife Lorraine; daughter, Rachelle Morgan; and sons, Joseph (Dyan) Morgan, Wesley (Angela) Morgan and Davis Morgan.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday July 3, 2018 at Greenwood Cemetery followed by a memorial service at First United Methodist Church of Newton, Kansas at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) in care of Petersen Funeral Home, 215 N. Main St., Newton.
