Gateway Church of the Nazarene
GATEWAY E-News – 167D
Date: Monday, 16 July 2018
Gateway Church Family, We are not positive that the devotional went out last week. So here it is again…
I am so thankful that the crucifixion of Christ was not the end. The Bible tells us Jesus died on the cross. However, the cross was not the end of the story. Three days later Jesus rose from the dead. Mark 15:5-7 paints the picture, ““As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. "Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples.”
The resurrection of Jesus proves to us that Jesus really was the Son of God. It proves to us the power of God. It proves to us that death has lost it sting. It proves to us that God our Father is faithful in keeping His word.
In the Christian faith, we typically celebrate the resurrection on Easter each and every year. But I want us to celebrate the resurrection each and every day of our lives. This single event changed everything. Can you imagine if you were one of the disciples and you heard the news that Jesus was dead? Your world would have been devasted. Your world would have been crushed. However, can you also imagine getting the news that Jesus is back from the dead? Everything would have changed in that exact moment.
I want to challenge you today to celebrate the resurrection of Christ. Don’t just remember the resurrection on Easter but be reminded of the single greatest event in human history today. Jesus is back from the dead and today He sits at God’s right hand! Let’s celebrate this truth right now.
I challenge you today to go before God and thank Him for the resurrection.
Have a great week!

VBS missed the E-News deadline last week so I thought I would slip in into the Devotional Good News.
We are in need of the following:
1. 75 Vanilla Hunts Snack Pudding Packs (they come in 4’s or 6’s). They are for one of our VBS on one of the days. These can be dropped off in the office by Wednesday morning at the latest.
2. We are also in need of help to tear down after VBS on Friday/Saturday morning so that we can get the sanctuary ready for our services.
