The word prejudice is rooted in the idea of prejudging. It is to reject someone or a group of people, based on preconceived notions. It is a kind of inherent dislike and hostility. It can be directed at another tribe, political party, religion or race. Prejudice corrupts the court system as well as harmony among people groups. Wars are fought because of it. People have been starved because of it. People have been put down and kept out because of it. We make demons out of those against whom we are prejudiced in order to make us more righteous than they are. But be sure, it is not godly, and it is not Christ’s way of coming to people with a universal mission and message.
“In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus and of the elect angels I charge you to keep these rules without prejudging, doing nothing from partiality.” (1 Timothy 5:21 (ESV))
