PALCON 2018 Plenary Session 4 with Dr. Scott McKnight for Wednesday, 1 August 2018
Pastors and Mission in the World
Fundamental Mission for the church is to nurture Christo formaty, to be formed to be the likeness of Jesus.
Philippians 2:6 Though he was in the form of God,
he did not regard equality with God
something to be possessed by force.
7 On the contrary, he emptied himself,
in that he took the form of a slave
by becoming like human beings are.
And when he appeared as a human being,
8 he humbled himself still more
by becoming obedient even to death —
death on a stake as a criminal!
9 Therefore God raised him to the highest place
and gave him the name above every name;
10 that in honor of the name given Yeshua,
every knee will bow —
in heaven, on earth and under the earth —
11 and every tongue will acknowledge[
Philippians 2:11 Isaiah 45:23]
that Yeshua the Messiah is Adonai —
to the glory of God the Father.

Forgiveness is great until you have to forgive, C.S. Lewis

As Jesus died for others, we need to die for others to raise them.
A culture focused on people especially the people with impairments.
The Apostle Paul cared about people.
Pastors nurture culture in their church, but what culture?
If pastors nurture culture, but only want to preach and teach instead of meeting with people.
2. We must cleave to the Lord God.
Example is like our undergarments as we wear them.
We must be focused on the the Lord.
We must have emulation, not education.
Character and lifestyle of the one who gives direction.
Sages are correct all the time when we are not.
2 Corinthisns 1:11
3. We need to be a crystal formed community
The world expects us, Christians, to live better.
When sing about Jesus, we are destined to be light of Jesus to others.
4. We have a priestly role in the world. To mediatevthe presence of Jesus in the world.
Romans 15:15-16

Every Christian has priestly role.
5. We are called to be Jesus' leaders to others
We need leaders in the church
Pastors and churches are tempted to power and celebrity
Only Jesus has power because He gave this up to redeem people.
Everything Pastor Scott McKnight says go with our embracing and including people with impsirments.
