The God Pause Daily Devotional from The Luther Seminary in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States for Saturday, November 17, 2018 "All Glory, Laud, and Honor," ELW 344
Refrain:

All glory, laud, and honor
to you, redeemer, king,
to whom the lips of children
made sweet hosannas ring.
1. You are the king of Israel
and David's royal Son,
now in the Lord's name coming,
our King and Blessed One. Refrain:
All glory, laud, and honor
to you, redeemer, king,
to whom the lips of children
made sweet hosannas ring.
2. The company of angels
are praising you on high;
creation and all mortals
in chorus make reply. Refrain:
All glory, laud, and honor
to you, redeemer, king,
to whom the lips of children
made sweet hosannas ring.
3. The multitude of pilgrims
with palms before you went;
our praise and prayer and anthems
before you we present. Refrain:
All glory, laud, and honor
to you, redeemer, king,
to whom the lips of children
made sweet hosannas ring.
4. To you, before your passion,
they sang their hymns of praise.
To you, now high exalted,
our melody we raise. Refrain:
All glory, laud, and honor
to you, redeemer, king,
to whom the lips of children
made sweet hosannas ring.
5. Their praises you accepted;
accept the prayers we bring,
great author of all goodness,
O good and gracious King. Refrain:
All glory, laud, and honor
to you, redeemer, king,
to whom the lips of children
made sweet hosannas ring.

The gospel reading this week from Mark and the reading from Daniel both talk about destruction and anguish. But there is also hope, as in the reading from Daniel: "Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the sky." And in Mark, where we read that the rumblings of the earth are like the "beginnings of the birth pangs." The end is really a new beginning, and the beginning only points us to a glorious end, if we truly believe that all glory, laud and honor belong to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Each year we await the birth of our Savior and Lord; we celebrate the coming of David's Son. We live in this hope, for Jesus is indeed our Lord and our Redeemer.
Lord, we sing your praises and we are your children who sing sweet hosannas, for the love you have for us is never-ending. All glory, laud and honor are truly yours. Amen.
