The Deaf Devo from The Deaf Missions in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States "Jesus' Parables (2)" Bible Reading: Matthew 13:47-50 for Thursday, 2 February 2017
Matthew 13:47 “Once more, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a net thrown into the lake, that caught all kinds of fish. 48 When it was full, the fishermen brought the net up onto the shore, sat down and collected the good fish in baskets, but threw the bad fish away. 49 So it will be at the close of the age — the angels will go forth and separate the evil people from among the righteous 50 and throw them into the fiery furnace, where they will wail and grind their teeth.

In our Bible verses today, Jesus continued talking about the kingdom of heaven. He said the kingdom of heaven is like a fishing net. Have you ever used a fishing net? Some nets are small. Other nets are very large and are used to catch big fish.
When I go fishing, usually the fish I catch are not all the same. Some are big and some are small. Some may have speckles or stripes. And one time I even caught a dead fish!
Jesus explained that the fish in the net are like people - some are good and some are bad. The good people are those who follow God. The bad people are those who refuse to love and obey God. Jesus said the angels will come and separate the good people from the bad people. The good people will receive eternal life with God. But the bad people will be thrown into a place of fire.
I want to make sure that I always follow God. I want to live forever with Him.[Rachel Burkum]
"It will be the same at the end of time. The angels will come and separate the evil people from the godly people."[Matthew 13:49]
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I want to do what is right and always follow You and Your Word. In Jesus' name. Amen.
