Pastor H. Lamar Smith
We pray often for ourselves and the needs of those we love. My prayers for all of my needs should be balanced by prayers for all of your needs. My prayers for my children and grandchildren need to be balanced with praying for your children and grandchildren. Intercession for others keeps my prayer life from being entirely self-centered. Pray for the lost, the sick, the hungry, the abandoned, the forgotten, the imprisoned, the lonely, the widow, the orphan, the trafficked child, and all the hurting ones around us that we have not yet even seen.
“With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints.” (Ephesians 6:18 (NASB))

Macedonia, the place that calls us for help. The place where God said, “Not east, but west”. It was the turning point for Western civilization. It was world transforming, a hinge of history. Oh, that we would hear the cry which says, “Come and help us!” In prayer, be open to it. Follow your passion to share the gospel everywhere and be open to those hinges of history that are going to change things for generations to come and for whole people groups. History is changed by each personal transformation.

“During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, ‘Come over to Macedonia and help us.’ After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.” (Acts 16:9-10 (NIV))

"Acting On God’s Nature" by Pastor H. Lamar Smith
The way believers are to act and react in every area of their lives should be based on the nature of God. What is the nature of God? What is God like? Look at Jesus! We see God in the face of Jesus. We know what He is like because we have seen Jesus. Jesus is the benchmark we come back to for the way we live our lives. Acting on God’s nature, as it is revealed in Christ, is the goal of our formation. To say it another way, we are to live out the Nature of our Father. Let His DNA shine through you.
“So Jesus said to them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise.’” (John 5:19 (ESV))
