NTS E-Connection
September 2018
I had the opportunity to attend all three of this past summer’s regional Pastors and Leaders Conferences – at Eastern Nazarene College, Southern Nazarene University and Point Loma Nazarene University. I loved the cool Boston mornings at ENC, the ocean views at Point Loma and the Braum’s Ice Cream at SNU! I also had a lot of fun reconnecting with ministry friends and NTS alumni all along the way.
But, I have to admit, after many days of eating cafeteria food and many nights sleeping in the dorms (not to mention ‘schlepping’ around an exhibit booth in and out of various airports throughout the summer) my enthusiasm for these big denominational events was sorely tested! Despite my weariness and fatigue however, the whole trip would end up being worth it all when someone would come up to me at the NTS booth and say something like:
“Thanks for the resources you are providing on your website and Facebook page. The CPL has become a critical resource for my ministry.”
“I am really looking forward to the Preachers Conference this year and appreciate you introducing our denomination to so many new and diverse voices.”
“I love the work Dr. Roger Hahn is doing to resource preachers with his Lectionary to Go commentary.”
Yes, despite a busy summer of PalCon travels and the accompanying fatigue, it would all come into sharp focus for me when I’d hear someone affirming the work of the NTS Center for Pastoral Leadership– helping to fulfill the second half of the NTS mission: ‘…to be a theological resource to the Church.’
This fall, we will continue our work as we welcome alumni, students, and friends to our 2018 Hugh C. Benner Preachers Conferenceand Homecoming Dinner. And, in just a few days, we are excited to launch a new and improved CPL video platform.
Thank you for your support of NTS and the Center for Pastoral Leadership. See you in September!
Grace and peace,
Rev. Dana Preusch
Director, Center for Pastoral Leadership
