Dear Friends,
Work on the Trinity Playground has begun!  It will be fully handicap accessible, and a special place for families to gather - Stepping Stones, MOPS, Community - everyone.  We will be doing as much of the work as possible ourselves - with a work day this Saturday morning, so come on out.
Did you know - that on a recent weekend over 500 boy/cub scouts camped out on our campus Friday night, and left it squeaky clean on Saturday, as 700 people arrived for Upward Soccer and in time to free the parking lot for a 1:00 funeral, and then worship on Sunday, followed by setting up for 400 people to arrive on Monday for the PACE Center for girls fundraising luncheon - just another weekend in the life of your Trinity - so alive, so open and welcoming to the community.
And your faithful contributions make this and so much more possible.  Our theme for our Fall Financial focus is "Pursuing the Possibilities," as we respond to God's love and grace by committing a portion of those God-given resources to God's work through Trinity.
You'll soon be sent a pledge/commitment card.  Please return it on November 17 - and as a token of appreciation, everyone who makes a pledge will be given a specially created coffee mug; it's really cool.
It's good to be back from the Board meeting of the Methodist Theological Seminary in Moscow.  Truly, this young seminary is central to the lifeblood and ongoing health of the United Methodist Church in Russia and Eurasia.  Our Florida Bishop has just agreed to come onto the Board, and his and our support are very important to these first generation Christians who are just beginning to come out of the darkness of atheism and communism.
Tonight at 7:00 in room 211 - the Center for Faith and Knowledge will meet, with Dr. John Sommerville presenting.  All are welcome.
Love and Prayers,  Dan

Missions
This week's mission box supports the community Thanksgiving Basket program.  This will be the 7th year TUMC coordinates the food donations and distribution of 1100 Thanksgiving meals.  This community program works when the whole community participates so grab a flyer Sunday or print one out from the website.  Put up a donation box at work, your community center, with your scouting or Rotary group, everywhere.  Grocery gift cards and cash work great also!  If you'd like to volunteer with sorting packing or distribution please go here to sign up or go to the Trinity website.  You may also make a donation by clicking here.
The cooler weather has the local homeless population in need of donations of men's pants & shoes, gloves and knit caps.  Fifty degrees doesn't sound too cold until you have to spend the whole night outside.  Tent donations are always welcome as well.  Donations can be dropped off in the blue bin in the Narthex and at reception
Membership
If you are looking for a church home and want to learn more about the vision, mission and ministries of Trinity United Methodist Church, we invite you to attend one of our upcoming Coffee with the Pastors. It is a casual gathering in which you'll learn more about the United Methodist Church, who we are at Trinity and what is expected of members. The class is designed for visitors and gives you the opportunity to meet our ministers and learn about the many ways to become involved in our church family.
Those who are ready to join have a chance to do so the Sunday after the Coffee.  The next Coffee with the Pastors is December 8, from 12:15 to 1:45 p.m. in the Room 222. To register for Coffee with the Pastors click on this link or e-mail Carmen Nelson to receive the form via e-mail. We would love to meet you and to welcome you into the membership of our church!

Communion - "Why I Serve"
"Living in China was a wake-up call for my faith journey.  What I took for granted at my home church in America was at the discretion of the Chinese government in Shanghai.  The possibility of the loss of communion crystallized how important it was to me and how God's grace and love is reinforced in my faith each time I take the Holy Sacrament". -  Chuck Goad
If you would like to become a communion steward (or to assist in serving communion), please contact Pam Goad."
