Stephen M. Miller – Friday, 10 January 2013 - Subway Sunday,
RezChat - Evening, folks.
Thanks to everyone who
braved the weather last Sunday.
I taught the session
and figured it would be just me and Linda. I shouldn't have been surprised that
Barbara Borgelt came to defend Joseph from a 3-unit series called "Lessons
from the Life of Tattle-Tale Joseph." In case you don't know, she likes
Joe.

Sunday's session: The God side of disaster
JIM BUFFINGTON takes us into session 2 of our 3-week series on
the life of Joseph.
Topic: How God took the
evil that Joseph’s brother did to him and used it to make something good
happen.
Passage: Genesis
50:14-21 (NLT)
Joseph Reassures His Brothers
14 After burying Jacob, Joseph returned to Egypt with his
brothers and all who had accompanied him to his father’s burial. 15 But now
that their father was dead, Joseph’s brothers became fearful. “Now Joseph will
show his anger and pay us back for all the wrong we did to him,” they said.
16 So they sent this message to Joseph: “Before your father
died, he instructed us 17 to say to you: ‘Please forgive your brothers for the
great wrong they did to you—for their sin in treating you so cruelly.’ So we,
the servants of the God of your father, beg you to forgive our sin.” When
Joseph received the message, he broke down and wept. 18 Then his brothers came
and threw themselves down before Joseph. “Look, we are your slaves!” they said.
19 But Joseph replied, “Don’t be afraid of me. Am I God, that I
can punish you? 20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good.
He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people. 21 No,
don’t be afraid. I will continue to take care of you and your children.” So he
reassured them by speaking kindly to them.
Second Sunday Social: Made to order
Linda Miller will take orders in class on Sunday for Subway
sandwiches. Then she'll pick them up for us to enjoy a meal together after the
10:45 a.m. worship service on Sunday.
She'll bring menus to
class. But for those who like to plan ahead, here is a link to the Subway menu.
We'll bring chips and
soft drinks (diet and sweet as all get out).
The cost is $5/person.
Just drop it into the class offering when you get a chance and when you have
the dough. But don't let low dough ever leave you saying no go. We'd prefer the
pleasure of your company.
That's all I got. I got
no more. It's Friday night and I have a date with Buddy the Dog.
