Praise for Protection of Missionaries!
The Prayer Mobilization Line recently shared a praise report about how God kept missionaries Harmon and Cindy Schmelzenbach safe when they were involved in car accident. To God be the glory for the following words from the Schmelzenbachs about God's continued provision:
"God has truly been answering prayer in a powerful way!  Cindy and I walked away without a scratch and even though our vehicle was totaled and that was inconvenient, it has been amazing to watch how God has used this and been at work. Our insurance paid out for the totaling of our vehicle and for the same money God has now provided us with a better vehicle, four years newer, with less miles and...red!"
Harmon and Cindy serve in Melanesia.
Nazarene Pastor Hospitalized in India - Improving - Praise God!
On August 13 we received a request from India asking the church to pray for Pastor Ravi Thorat who had been admitted to the hospital and doctors suspected Dengue Fever. One day later the word came that Pastor Thorat's platelets had grown from 6,000 to 16,000 and we rejoiced at this improvement. Thank you for praying for Pastor Thorat's complete recovery.

Deadlines: you either love 'em or leave 'em, but you can't live without them. Like meats or meds, they have delivery and expiration dates that define them. Live within their parameters and you have the making for a healthy management. How you view deadlines will determine how and when your products or projects will emerge from obscurity to completion. Let's think about what they are and why they deserve a little respect.
  • Deadlines are friends. You created them to assist you. Treat them with respect and they will be loyal to you. Ignore them and they may haunt you. They are not there to harass you; they are there to help you. Like a friend, you check on them, give them space, and remember their birthdates and anniversaries.
  • Deadlines are property lines. They are the imaginary spaces where your ideas and ideals live. As property lines, they need to be detailed, recorded, and guarded from intruders-such as time-wasters or attention-grabbers.
  • Deadlines are destination points. Like entering a travel location on your GPS, you create a deadline so you can journey toward it. There may be "points of interest" along the way, but their destination is your end goal.
  • Deadlines are managers. You gave them permission to keep you on the straight and narrow. In return, they give you friendly reminders of neglect, lack of focus, or impulsive behavior. You don't need to fear them. They are not immovable. And if they are not flexible, they may need to be replaced.
  • Deadlines are volunteer staff. You appointed them, not vice versa. They are the stagehands, but you run the show. They embody your vision. You are only bound to them by loyalty. They have no overruling authority.
Create them carefully. Make sure they are within the range of your skills, resources, and available time.

Post them prominently. A major detail may have one or more sub-details. You may even want to list those separately, and complete them separately.

Guard deadlines diligently. They drive important ideas. If your deadlines are still viable, and fit with your action plan, keep them on the top shelf of your mind-and let them propel you to success.

Yogyakarta, Indonesia
This past week was an exciting time as, in response to an invitation from the Filadelfia Church, the Asia-Pacific World Mission Communications (WMC-AP) Team sent three members on their first-ever training trip to Indonesia. More than 60 college/career aged young adults, representing three different churches, joined in the worship, video, and audio seminar that was taught at the GKN Filadelfia Church in Yogyakarta.

Learning the fundamentals of video production.
Capitalizing on training that the WMC-AP team received at a media conference held earlier this year in Thailand, the seminar in Indonesia was designed to empower young adults to utilize media technology presently available in developing contextually relevant and engaging messages.

"The countries of Asia-Pacific are leading the globe in the growth of mobile device utilization," explains Todd Aebischer, Asia-Pacific Regional Communications Coordinator. "Now is the time to catch this wave and help our young adults produce media that speaks to this rapidly growing group of users. This has the potential to provide inroads like never before, to those who might otherwise never hear the gospel message."
The training began by focusing on the principles of photography, video and audio production, and then moved into developing story boards depicting biblical truths (such as the parable of the Good Samaritan) into messages that capitalize on current day situations / culture to draw parallels to those biblical truths (contextualization).

While video production was ongoing, the audio group was learning equally important principles relating to the development of engaging and impactful audio spots and programs, that could be used as podcasts or for local broadcasting through the participation of World Mission Broadcast (WMB). In fact, key to this seminar was the training and deployment of a WMB Backpack Studio. This essential kit allows teams to produce audio programs without the need for leasing of expensive studio time.
"Evidenced by the enthusiasm displayed and growing number of participants from day one to day two, we are considering this training a great success," said Aebischer. "As a team, we were so encouraged by the incredible talent of these young adults! God's presence was felt not only during the seminar but during the powerful worship services that were celebrated together each day of the seminar and then again on Sunday."

On Wednesday, July 16th, the Church in Papua New Guinea (PNG) and the Asia-Pacific Region celebrated the life of a true pioneer and hero of the faith.
Rev. Taime Dirye, the first National District Superintendent in Papua New Guinea, was called home to his Savior on July 9th.  Remembered as one of the very first graduates of Melanesia Bible College, and one of the first group of six national pastors to be ordained, Rev. Taime was truly considered a father of the faith in PNG.
In addition to serving as District Superintendent, Rev. Taime served in many other roles over his more than 30 years of ministry.  He pastored several churches including the mission station church at Kudjip, and also served as the Kudjip Nazarene Hospital Chaplain for more than 20 years.
"He had a burning passion for church planting and for evangelism," shares longtime Kudjip Nazarene Hospital surgeon Dr. Jim Radcliffe.  "He was a gifted, inspirational and anointed speaker of God's word. He has been used of the Lord to help open many new Nazarene churches and to win many souls to Jesus. As people accepted the Lord Jesus as Savior at the hospital we referred them back to the nearest church that they could attend. Sometimes when there was no evangelical church in their area they wanted Chaplain Taime to help them start one so that they could continue in the faith in their local village. Each year Chaplain Taime started several new churches in this manner and we have had the privilege as doctors to then go and speak at these church plants."
"He was one of our finest church doctrine protectors and holiness message preachers," said Rev. Yambe Sike, Chairman of the National Board in PNG.  "He was the most dynamic servant of Jesus Christ in our time. His life and ministry has greatly impacted the growth and development of the Church of Nazarene in PNG."
Please continue to pray for the family of Rev. Taime and for the continued growth of the Church of the Nazarene in Papua New Guinea and across the Melanesia South Pacific Field.

More than two-thirds of the world's population can't, won't, or doesn't read. Some estimate that as many as 75 percent of all people learn, gather information, and live their daily lives without reading. They do so by listening and watching rather than by reading.
The Church of the Nazarene is responding to the challenge of making disciples of oral learners by introducing a relational small group discipleship tool called Tell THE Story.

Tell THE Story Training at PNC, Philippines being captured by WMC
Tell THE Story is a simple, easy-to-learn method for telling a Bible story accurately. After the story, listeners engage in the story by responding to open ended questions such as, "What stands out to you in this story?", "What troubles you about this story?", and "What truths do you find in this story?" This invites the listeners to express their insights about what God is saying to them through the Bible story. Together, the group discovers deep truths as each person shares their perspective, providing ideas that might not be gained in solitude.
This methodology is a tool Jesus used for teaching the crowds. Mark 4:34 points out that Jesus did not speak to the people without using a parable or story.

"We have proclaimed Jesus' message; should we not also employ His methodology?" said Woodie Stevens, global discipleship director for the Church of the Nazarene.
Stevens and fellow leader Ray Neu recently held a training session at Philippine Nazarene College. One person reported, "This is so much more than any workshop I have attended before."
