Trinity United Methodist Church Daily Scripture Email Devotion for Friday, 22 August 2014 "Habakkuk"

Trinity United Methodist Church Daily Scripture Email Devotion for Friday, 22 August 2014 "Habakkuk"
How long, O Lord, must I call for help, but you do not listen? (Hab. 1:2).
So you thought you were the first to feel that God doesn't hear your prayers, that God has forgotten who you are, or doesn't care?  You're not.  Habakkuk felt that way, as did the Psalmist, often.  But here's the deal:  while we moderns are reluctant to own such feelings when they come, the ancients had no hesitation, and consequently, they were better able (often) to move into and through those feelings to the reality that God truly is and God truly hears and cares and will answer.  And God does answer, but that will come on Monday, when we get to chapter 2.
In the meantime, know you can tell God whatever is on your heart - anytime, right now.
