A month to remember
Sunday is week #3 in the 4-week series that spins around the theme of remembering good souls: friends, moms, kids, and humans now off the planet.
SUNDAY5.17. Keith Larkin
Kids I know and love.
Notes to the leader, for consideration only: With school graduations going on, we talk about the kids in our life. We start with the story of the disciples trying to drive children away from Jesus. We talk about what a bachelor like Jesus might have seen in the kids. And we talk about what endears kids to us and why we have an irrational love for them no matter what.
Psalm 127:3-5
Psalm 127:3 Children too are a gift from Adonai;
the fruit of the womb is a reward.
4 The children born when one is young.
are like arrows in the hand of a warrior.
5 How blessed is the man
who has filled his quiver with them;
he will not have to be embarrassed
when contending with foes at the city gate.
UPCOMING5.25 Memorial Day Weekend. Terry BahadurDead but not forgotten.
Notes to the leader, for consideration only: Start with the Bible passage of Paul, “We want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope” (1 Thess 4:13). We talk about some of the people we know who have died and what they mean to us, and about our hope of a reunion.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
1 Thessalonians 4:13 Now, brothers, we want you to know the truth about those who have died; otherwise, you might become sad the way other people 14 do who have nothing to hope for. For since we believe that Yeshua died and rose again, we also believe that in the same way God, through Yeshua, will take with him those who have died. 15 When we say this, we base it on the Lord’s own word: we who remain alive when the Lord comes will certainly not take precedence over those who have died. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a rousing cry, with a call from one of the ruling angels, and with God’s shofar; those who died united with the Messiah will be the first to rise; 17 then we who are left still alive will be caught up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and thus we will always be with the Lord. 18 So encourage each other with these words.

Second Sunday Social was cancelled this month because it was on Mother's Day.
Note to curriculum team: Almost no one came to class on Mother's Day. Let's remember this next year.
As a substitute for the Social, Linda Miller is planning a social around helping Erin Cottrell move from Lawrence to her new home in Olathe, near Ridgeview Elementary.
If you can help move, let me know and we'll meet somewhere in Olathe and head out to Lawrence together. Perhaps meet at the church.
8 a.m., Saturday, May 23, in Lawrence
Moving stuff from 826 New York Street, Lawrence, KS to 1408 E Central Circle, Olathe (Keith Larkin's home)Note from Erin:
Here is a map/directions link for taking K-10 to Lawrence. http://mapq.st/1KhFjov
There is an alley behind my house and I have off street parking there. It will be easiest to move larger items out the back door, so some people can park back there. My Highlander will be parked back there as well.
Mexican Feast: "Let's Feed the Movers"
Linda has prepared a signup list for anyone interested in helping with the move or with helping feed the movers.
I'll bring it to RezChat on Sunday.But as a heads up, it features all the stuff you need for tacos. The menu includes drinkables and dessert.
Note from Linda:
If you cannot help with the moving, come anyway to Keith's house for help with set-up, serving, cleanup, unpacking, and anything else you can do.
You can wear a hat on cloudy days, too.
