Thank you for being a part of the College of Education's community of learners, leaders and servant educators! In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, I'd like to thank you for your commitment to student learning and the dedication you demonstrate every day. I am proud of the accomplishments we have made together:
Established and promoted Lopes Leap to Teach. During these campus events, district representatives visit GCU to present features of their school culture, curriculum, diverse programs and available resources. Teacher candidates have the opportunity to learn more about each district and school for potential practicum/field experience hours and student teaching requests.
Launched the Professional Learning Network where student teachers and university supervisors can collaborate and share best practices for teaching and learning.
Revised current programs of study and developed new ones including our Master of Arts in Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Highlighted recognition of several of our alumni as teachers and/or administrators of the year.
Noted scholarship by a number of our faculty and administrators that presented at national conferences and published articles in peer reviewed journals. In honor of teachers everywhere, we've asked members of GCU's teaching community to write a letter of advice to themselves for their first year as a teacher. To watch their stories, visit gcu.edu/teachersweek2015.
Most Appreciatively,
