Andrea Cristina Mercado via Groundswell for Thursday, September 10, 2015 - Join 100 migrant women on their march to the Pope
On September 15th, I will be walking as one of 100 women on a 100-mile pilgrimage to Washington, DC.
Each of us carry stories of what it means to be an immigrant in the US; the human suffering, family separation, detention, and the dehumanization of a broken system. But we also carry a message of empowerment that our country needs to hear right now.
Pope Francis has said that the globalization of migration requires a globalization of charity and cooperation. When he comes to Washington, DC on September 23rd to speak to the President and Congress, we will be there to greet him with the hope that each step we take can be another step closer to a world of dignity for migrants. Will you join our pilgrimage by signing the #100women100miles Pictition?
PictitionTM is a bold new way to support a cause by signing with your picture. The faces of all those standing in solidarity with us will then be printed on a banner which we will carry on our pilgrimage from Pennsylvania to DC.
The Pope's visit is an important moment for our nation and its leaders to hear a prophetic voice call us back to compassion and to courage. Join us by adding your face to our Pictition.
In solidarity,
Andrea Cristina Mercado
