What Is Your Facebook Page Saying?
I heard about a ministry in my area recently so I did a quick Google search for them. One of the top results was a link to their Facebook page. I clicked on it and took a quick look around. Here is what I found.
The last post was from September of last year
There were four pictures taken in 2015 and about a dozen more taken in 2013
The About page was virtually empty, containing only a phone number
The logo was grainy and difficult to read. I do not want to judge a book by its cover but my initial thought is that this is a small ministry which does not actively seek to connect to the wider community. I am not even sure it is currently operating as nothing has been posted in 2016 and we are almost half of the way through the year.
Facebook can be a great way to connect with the community, share information with your members and help people tell their friends about the church. Regardless of what is on the page, it is going to give people an impression of your church. Given this, it makes sense to make the page informative and interesting. Make it easy for people to find information. Provide pictures and videos which can be shared. Help viewers gain a sense of what your church is all about.

• https://www.facebook.com/egracechurchonline/ - a large, multi-site United Methodist Church
