Daily Meditation Share-A-Thon from Henri Nouwen Society in Toronto, Ontario, Canada for Wednesday, 26 April 2017

We invite you to participate in the
Daily Meditation Share-A-Thon
May 1 - May 14, 2017
THE HENRI NOUWEN SOCIETY IS ON A MISSION!
We want to extend Henri's impact, to reach new audiences, to impact more lives, and to encourage more people on their spiritual journeys.
Henri Nouwen's Daily Meditation emails land in approximately 40,000 inboxes each and every day of the year.
That sounds like a lot - but it's only a tiny fraction of the throngs of spiritually-hungry people who would benefit from Henri's unique and encouraging perspective on spirituality, friendship, forgiveness, hope and healing, prayer, community, social justice, and so much more.
From May 1st - May 14th, we would like you to share Henri's Daily Meditations with family, friends, and anyone you know who will appreciate these thoughtful reflections.
Encourage all of your e-contacts to subscribe to Henri's Daily Meditations. Our goal is to add 5,000+ new subscribers during this two week period.
Enrich the lives of your family and loved ones by sharing these spiritual nuggets with them.
Don't be shy! You never know when one of these meditations might offer the hope and encouragement your loved ones might need and appreciate.
"Pay attention to the people God puts in your path
if you want to discern what God is up to in your life."

Daily Meditation: Question from Above from Henri Nouwen Society in Nashville, Tennessee, United States for Wednesday, 26 April 2017

What are spiritual questions? They are questions from above. Most questions people ask of Jesus are questions from below, such as the question about which of a woman's seven husbands she will be married to in the resurrection. Jesus does not answer this question because it comes from a legalistic mind-set. It is a question from below.
Often Jesus responds by changing this question. In the case of the woman with seven husbands he says, "At the resurrection men and women do not marry - have you never read what God himself said to you: 'I am God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob?' He is God not of the dead but of the living" (Matthew 22:23-30).
We have to keep looking for the spiritual question if we want spiritual answers.

For further reflection...
"Is this the kind of fast I have chosen, only a day to humble oneself? Is it only for bowing one's head like a reed and for lying on sackcloth and ashes? Is that what you call a fast, a day acceptable to the Lord? Is this not the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter -- when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear..." - Isaiah 58: 5-8 (NIV)
Your response...
Where do you turn to pursue burning spiritual questions? Books, friends, solitude, the BIble, church, the internet, God?
