Weekly eNote from Pastor Jason Gant - for Friday, 28 April 2017 from The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection West in Olathe, Kansas, United States

Resurrection West,
Summer is coming soon and Scharme and I just signed up Hailey, our 5th grade daughter, to serve on her very first youth mission trip. She is so excited! The 5th-7th grade mission is heading to downtown KC to serve this summer, overnighting at our downtown campus and 8th-12th graders are headed to Colorado to serve near Colorado Springs. As a former youth pastor, I remember just how life-changing these summer missions can be for teens. The entire rezlife summer event calendar is also up online with some great fun including a Royal's game, cookout at Pastor Rick's house, movie nights, water wars, and more. Find out more and sign-up at cor.org/west/students.
We continue our series on love, intimacy, and the modern family this Sunday with a message on building healthy marriages. Any and all relationships will benefit from Pastor Adam’s message as we learn what it takes to to development and sustain healthy, loving, and fulfilling marriages. Do you know a couple that could benefit from this sermon? Invite them to join you in worship this Sunday at 8am, 9:30am, 11am, or 5pm! KidsCOR Sunday School through 5th grade available at all four services and 6th-8th grade available at 9:30 & 11am services.
Our Compassion table will be out again this Sunday for those who might consider adopting a child through Compassion International. This is a tangible way to live out our faith by helping a child know the love of Jesus and receive much needed support. The cost is $38 a month and 82% goes directly to benefit the child. Make a difference this Sunday by sponsoring a child!
We had an amazing time at Coffee with the Pastors last week and want to extend a warm welcome to our newest members listed here - 48 in all! Its always exciting to hear there passion around making the decision to follow Christ and join our faith community. I always ask our new members what it is that connects them to God here at RezWest. Here are some of the answers I heard…”so warm and friendly”, “a passion here around serving others”, “such inspiring and creative worship”, “learning so much from the messages about God and the scriptures”, “love, love, love the music”, “such great energy here”. If you see a name you know, be sure to reach out and welcome them personally.

Here are some upcoming opportunities to know, love, and serve God....
Give to Noah’s Bandage Project – Donate cool and fun band-aids for kids that need them. As a cancer patient, Noah Wilson discovered that a bandage is a pretty significant thing. Kids are allowed to hold onto a bandage during uncomfortable procedures. When done, they get to put the bandage on knowing they are fi nished. Also, Noah realized that hospital gowns all look the same; and when chemotherapy makes kids lose their hair, even the kids start to look the same. But the bandages are the cool things that help a kid stand out. If you would like to put a smile on a child’s face in the hospital and at home, place your boxes of band-aids in the Narthex donation bin through Sunday, May 7.
Serve in FaithWork – Saturday, May 13, 9-11:30 am. Meet in the Resurrection West Sanctuary for prayer, breakfast snacks and instructions. Then, help serve our neighbors near and far by participating in several awesome on-site mission opportunities. All ages are welcome. No sign-up required—just come and serve. For more information, contact chris.holliday@cor.org
Baptism Class – If you are considering baptism, we invite you to join Pastor Jason on Tuesday, May 16, at 5:30 pm in the RezWest sanctuary for baptism class. Pastor Chris is turning 50 this Sunday! We had a little fun with him this week as our staff participated in a contest to decorate his office with fun and interesting items - items we hope will be dear to his heart for years to come. We had everything from Christmas decor to an epic story book filled with pics of endless adventure with “flat Chris” (cardboard cut-out of Chris) to a poster of “Holliday’s Heroes” that will surely become a family heirloom to be passed through generations of Holliday’s! I’ve loaded some pics of our decor on the RezWest Facebook page. Click on the button below to link to the page. Pastor Chris is off this Sunday, but please reach out and share Happy Birthday wishes (or friendly and compassionate pranks) with him on this special occasion. His email is chris.holliday@cor.org
Finally, it will be my privilege to teach tomorrow morning at our Saturday morning men’s group. Guys, I hope you’ll join us as the group begins a new book called ‘Man Up: Becoming a Godly Man in an Ungodly World’. I’m teaching on chapter 2 this week called, ‘Man Up in your marriage’. I hope you’ll join us from 8-9:30am downstairs in room 004 with a catered breakfast from HyVee for only $5. Reach out to a buddy and invite them so we can grow together in the health and wellness of our marriages!
Looking forward to worship on Sunday with you,
Pastor Jason
