1 Peter 4:12 Dear friends, don’t regard as strange the fiery ordeal occurring among you to test you, as if something extraordinary were happening to you. 13 Rather, to the extent that you share the fellowship of the Messiah’s sufferings, rejoice; so that you will rejoice even more when his Sh’khinah is revealed. 14 If you are being insulted because you bear the name of the Messiah, how blessed you are! For the Spirit of the Sh’khinah, that is, the Spirit of God, is resting on you! 15 Let none of you suffer for being a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or a meddler in other people’s affairs. 16 But if anyone suffers for being Messianic, let him not be ashamed; but let him bring glory to God by the way he bears this name. 17 For the time has come for the judgment to begin. It begins with the household of God; and if it starts with us, what will the outcome be for those who are disobeying God’s Good News? —
18 “If the righteous is barely delivered,
where will the ungodly and sinful end up?”[
1 Peter 4:18 Proverbs 11:31]
19 So let those who are suffering according to God’s will entrust themselves to a faithful Creator by continuing to do what is good.

In some countries, a person may have his house burned down, lose his job or not be able to get food and water because he is a Christian. People around the world are being beaten, tortured, raped, imprisoned and murdered because they believe in Jesus.
Jesus said in the Bible that these things would happen to people who follow Him. "Then you will be arrested and handed over to be punished and killed. People all over the world will hate you because you believe in me" (Matthew 24:9).
In our Bible Reading today, Peter talked about what we can do when we face persecution. We can think about persecution as a blessing (verse 14). We should not be ashamed, and instead, we should praise God (verse 16). And we can trust God and continue to do good (verse 19).
If you are a Christian, you will probably face some kind of persecution during your life. Ask God to give you courage and to help you stay faithful to Him.[Gayle Thorn]
"But if you suffer because you are a 'Christ-follower,' don't be ashamed. You should praise God for that name."[1 Peter 4:16]
PRAYER: God, please strengthen and protect Your children around the world. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Bible Reading: Philippians 2:7-11 for Monday, 24 April 2017
Philippians 2:7 On the contrary, he emptied himself,
in that he took the form of a slave
by becoming like human beings are.
And when he appeared as a human being,
8 he humbled himself still more
by becoming obedient even to death —
death on a stake as a criminal!
9 Therefore God raised him to the highest place
and gave him the name above every name;
10 that in honor of the name given Yeshua,
every knee will bow —
in heaven, on earth and under the earth —
11 and every tongue will acknowledge[
Philippians 2:11 Isaiah 45:23]
that Yeshua the Messiah is Adonai —
to the glory of God the Father

A few years ago, a baby named George Alexander Louis was born. He is from a family of kings and queens that has been around for over one thousand years. Little Prince George lives a very comfortable life. Some day Prince George may become king. But he will only be king for a certain number of years.
Over two thousand years ago, a baby named Jesus was born according to God's plan. He came from heaven and was born of a virgin named Mary. Jesus did not experience an easy life. Our Bible verses explain that Jesus gave up everything to become a man on earth. But even before Jesus was born on earth, He was a King. And His reign as King will continue forever.
Jesus is our King - the only King who became a baby! And He will continue to be our King forever. Praise Him and worship Him as your King today![Suzanne Austin-Hill]
"So God raised him up to the
most important place and gave
him the name that is greater
than any other name." [Philippians 2:9]
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus to earth to die for our sins. He is truly our King. In Jesus' name. Amen.Watch latest Deaf Devo in ASL on:

My Shepherd from Deaf Devo of Deaf Mission in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States for Sunday, 23 April 2017 with Bible Reading: Psalm 23:1-6

Psalm 23:(0) A psalm of David:
(1) Adonai is my shepherd; I lack nothing.
2 He has me lie down in grassy pastures,
he leads me by quiet water,
3 he restores my inner person.
He guides me in right paths
for the sake of his own name.
4 Even if I pass through death-dark ravines,
I will fear no disaster; for you are with me;
your rod and staff reassure me.
5 You prepare a table for me,
even as my enemies watch;
you anoint my head with oil
from an overflowing cup.
6 Goodness and grace will pursue me
every day of my life;
and I will live in the house of Adonai
for years and years to come.

Our Bible Reading today is one of my favorite chapters in the Bible. Whenever I read it, I am strengthened and encouraged.
Psalm 23 compares God to a shepherd. A shepherd's job is to take care of his sheep. A shepherd makes sure that his sheep are safe and that they don't wander away from the flock. A shepherd also makes sure his sheep have food, water and a place to rest at night.
So if God is my Shepherd, what does He do for me? Here are some of the things God does for me: He gives me everything I need (verse 1). God gives me rest and strength (verses 2 and 3). He leads me in the right way (verse 3). God comforts me (verse 4) and shows me honor (verse 5). He also shows me His goodness and mercy (verse 6).
God is so good to us! I hope that reading through Psalm 23 gives you comfort and encourages you. Depend on God, your Shepherd, to lead you every day of your life![Pascal Niyonsenga]
"Your goodness and mercy will be with me all my life, and I will live in the Lord's house for a long, long time."[Psalm 23:6]
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I am so glad You are my Shepherd and You take care of me. In Jesus' name. Amen.
