I hope this message finds you doing well. It has been a hot week and it looks like some relief might be on the way, just in time for the weekend. We are going to have a huge weekend at Resurrection Downtown, starting tomorrow with Vacation Bible Camp! On Saturday morning (tomorrow) at the Healing House (4505 St. John Ave., KCMO), we'll gather from 9 am - Noon for a VBC focused on service. We will have a fun-filled day inside their brand new (air-conditioned) facility with games, snacks, story time, lunch, and SO MUCH MORE! In worship this weekend we'll continue our summer series on the Gospel in Film. I'll preach live on the movie Black Panther. This movie was released just this past February, has been one of the most successful movies of the year and has won several awards. After watching it on Sunday night and spending some time reading about its history, I'm excited to be able to preach on it. I hope you'll invite friends and join us in worship this weekend as we unpack this great movie!
I want to remind you that next weekend is a Serve Saturday weekend and I'd love for you to make it out. Please consider inviting family and friends of all ages to join us on July 21! Show up at 1522 McGee at 9 am to meet our construction team, refugee children’s reading program, and many other Serve partners around KC. I had the privilege of spending time with Resurrection's Lead Team this past week. For three days, we prayed, planned and dreamed about how God will lead our one church in many locations going forward into the future. After sharing about all that has happened here over the past year, and more recently, the past few months, I was reminded of what a privilege it is to be a part of this community. I am looking forward to seeing you in worship this weekend and before that at the Healing House for VBC. Have a great Friday and stay cool!
