Resurrection Blue Springs,
Good morning! I’m sending my enote this morning from Concordia, Kansas where I’ve been meeting for the last day and a half in a retreat with a group of pastors for the Center for Pastoral Effectiveness. We’ve been learning all about family systems theory in order to become more effective at leading our congregations and helping people. It’s been a great finish to an awesome week of connection and learning, what with our Potluck, KiDSCOR STEAM camp, Faithwork projects and Embark last weekend to the gathering this week to watch and discuss The Shack. I’ve also been in several different conversations this week with church members about plans for the fall. It’s exciting to see the Holy Spirit at work within our community.
Sunday we conclude our two week series “Rebels and Roses” by exploring the gospel themes in the Disney blockbuster Beauty and the Beast. We’ll also be starting our annual school supply drive for the 370 students of our partner school Phillips at Attucks. The start of a new school year can be expensive for families on a tight budget Therefore, this is one of the most important things we can do to help these students get off to a great start in their new school year. You can pick up a bag with a list of needed supplies at the back of the sanctuary on Sunday. Please fill these bags up with the supplies on the list and return by Aug. 6
Be sure to check out the other upcoming opportunities to serve, grow and connect with our community below. . . .
