Pastor Jason and his family are enjoying some vacation time and so, I am “pinch-hitting” for him this week. First, I want to say that I love being your Pastor of Care and Missions. You are an amazing group of people and I am honored serve here. One of the things I really appreciate about RezWest is that we have lots of great opportunities to know, love and serve God together. I encourage you to take a few minutes and explore the ones listed below and to sign-up and/or get involved with those that resonate with you.
This Sunday, Pastor Adam will conclude our ‘Rebels and Roses’ Gospel in the movies series as he focuses on the Disney classic, Beauty and the Beast. And yes, I thought about dressing up like the beast, but several of the staff brought me back to my senses. Of course, who knows what will really happen. One thing is for sure. It’s going to be an awesome worship service; so come and invite your friends. We worship on Sundays at8am, 9:30am, 11am, or 5pm with Sunday School for ages six months through 5th grade at all services.

Preschool Play Date – Come join the fun on Wednesday, July 26, from 10-11 am! This “Pirates and Princesses” themed playtime for ages 2-5 will be at Resurrection West. See you there!
School Supply Drive for Ridgeview Elementary - Bless our partner school’s students by picking up a shopping bag from Resurrection West this Sunday and filling it with the listed school supplies. Please return filled bags to Resurrection West by Tuesday, August 1 for use at the August 5 MEGA MISSION. Thank you for making a positive difference in children’s lives in this very tangible way! Back to School Mega Mission on Saturday, Aug. 5 - Meet at 9 am in the Resurrection West Sanctuary for prayer, project sign-ups, final instructions, coffee and breakfast snacks. Then, we’ll pack up the supplies and travel to Ridgeview Elementary to sort and organize school supplies, prepare classrooms, make crafts to welcome and support teachers, write encouraging notes to students and help with maintenance and beautifying the grounds. Please bring gardening gloves, yard tools, rakes, shovels and wheelbarrows if you have them. About 11:30 am, we’ll host and enjoy a Celebration Picnic alongside the students and families of the Ridgeview community complete with water play and fun for all ages! We should be all done and cleaned up by 1:30 pm. No sign-ups are necessary. Just come out and serve. Also, feel free to wear any year’s MEGA MISSION t-shirt (extras will be available). RezWest Lake Worship Event on August 6th - On that afternoon we will gather together at Kill Creek Park beach for lunch (please feel free to bring your own picnic), some swim time fun (per person fee required to swim), followed by worship on the beach at 6 pm and share in a moving baptism service together. We already have a few registered to be baptized in Kill Creek Lake and maybe you, or members of your family, are also ready to receive baptism. You can pre-register for baptism by going tocor.org/west/baptisms. When you are completing the online form and it comes to the date and service time request, simply write in ‘August 6th lake baptism’. We will be baptizing by full immersion, pouring over the head (just knees deep in the water), and by sprinkling at the water’s edge (no feet in the water). There will also be a time for all to remember their baptism with a sign of the cross placed on the forehead with water at the water's edge. This will certainly be a memorable and exciting night together and a great night to invite a friend!
Back to School Blessing – Sunday, August 13 during worship. Our next ‘Worship Together Sunday’ we will be celebrating and praying for the beginning of the school year with a special blessing over all of our children and teens as they begin the new school year.
RezWest Men’s Fly-Fishing retreat Aug 25-27 - Relax, unwind and enjoy the outdoors at the world-class Rockbridge, MO Rainbow Trout and Game Ranch. The trip cost is $145 per person and includes a fishing permit for the trip (meals and gratuities extra). A maximum of 28 spots are available, so register now at cor.org/west/mensflyfishing. You don’t have to be an expert fly fishermen to go - each year beginners signup and are coached and mentored by the more experienced guys - plus time in the evenings to share some great meals, worship, and connect together over the stories of the day!
W.O.W. (Women of West) Conference Friday, August 25 – Make plans now to attend the first ever WOW Conference! Women are invited to gather at Resurrection West,Friday, Aug. 25 at 5 pm, for an evening of renewal and fellowship. Registration is $40 per person and includes a t-shirt for those who register by July 31. Conference speakers include Diane Robertson, Lisa Holliday, Anne Williams and Brandy Young.
