Olathe, Kansas, United States - The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection West with Pastor Jason Gant for Friday, 2 May 2014
Resurrection West,
What a beautiful morning! I am always inspired by the changing of the seasons. Spring brings new life and last Sunday we celebrated new life with 18 people choosing to receive baptism (including two families who were baptized together). Hundreds of you remembered your baptisms and received a pebble reminding you of both Christ's example and His faithfulness!
We also celebrated our 5th graders beginning to move into student ministries with an event just for them last Sunday evening. Here is a quick pic Tyler Jenkins, our minister to students, snapped before he shared what rezlife student ministries is all about. These young people were very excited about this new step in their faith walk! If you weren't able to be there, email Pastor Tyler at tyler.jenkins@rezwest.org to get the information.
Pastor Adam begins a new series this Sunday exploring the story of Noah found in the first book of the Bible, Genesis 5 - 9. Many of you may have seen the movie and it has brought about many thoughts and questions on Noah and this amazing story. Pastor Adam will be exploring what this story means for us today beginning this Sunday at 9am, 10:45am, and 5pm. We will also be sharing in Holy Communion at all services on Sunday. Check out and share the promo video for this series here rezwest.org/noah
In the spirit of spring, getting outside, fun, and raising funds to scholarship those who feel called to ministry the 19th annual Resurrection Golf Classic is happening on Monday. To date the Resurrection Golf Classic and Auction events have raised over $1,325,000 for Resurrection ministries. This year your donation will again provide Resurrection seminary students with funds through the Joyce Eacock Seminary Tuition Grant Memorial Fund. You can still register to play by noon today. I hope to see you there. I will be heading to the driving range later to practice, so as not to embarrass our campus on Monday! Register and find more details at cor.org/golf

All groups participate in BBM mission projects supported by Resurrection West. Visit front reception desk after worship or rezwest.org/bbm to register today.

Join Pastor Adam Hamilton for an evening of teaching and conversation around his new book, Making Sense of the Bible, Monday, May 12, at 6:30pm in the Leawood campus Sanctuary. During his presentation, Adam will focus on the nature of scripture exploring the human and divine - what it is and is not. He will then tackle the tough questions people often ask about the Bible.
We hope you will consider attending this event at our Leawood campus Care Night on May 8th. Find out more at cor.org/carenight
Finally, I want to personally thank my wife for helping me teach the alpha marriage course last Friday night on intimacy in marriage. Scharme's passion is caring for people, not speaking in front of large groups. She is happy that we are returning tonight as participants, rather than facilitators. I am very thankful that she was willing to sacrifice her comfort to serve our Church. If you missed signing up for this spring's alpha marriage course, you might consider Pastor Adam's latest book on relationships called Love to Stay to read and discuss together as a couple. Here is the link to it in our on-line bookstore cor.org/thewell. Look for it under "Resurrection Resources"
Looking forward to worshipping with you on Sunday,
