The old gospel spiritual reminds us, that all Christians need to constantly pray to God for guidance and spiritual renewal. Prayer must be the cornerstone of all ministries that the church hopes to undertake in the Spirit of Jesus Christ. Yet many of us, even pastors, struggle with prayer. Somehow we can't find the time to pray or find the right words to pray. Sometimes we ashamedly confess we give ourselves a "D" for our devotional time with God. This spring please join me Tuesday evenings at 6:30 in the lounge from May 13 - June 24th to help revitalize your prayer life and the prayer ministry of our church. We will focus on Rev. Tyrone D. Gordon's book, "Living the Lord's Prayer". Jesus' disciples once asked him "Lord, teach us to pray".
Let us together rediscover how " F.O.C.U.S” calls us to be Faithful, Open, Centered, United and Solid, in our mission, vision, commitment, witness and discipleship. This book will help us learn the lifestyle of prayer by studying the prayer that Jesus taught us. Through living the Lord's Prayer, a congregation will find itself on the cutting edge of ministry and proclaiming a relevant gospel in this contemporary world. (Page 8 from the
book "Focus-Living the Lord's Prayer" - Tyrone D. Gordon)
Together, let us revitalize our mission as a church. Let us find renewed strength as disciples of Jesus as we live a life of prayer at The Waverly United Methodist Church. Let us trust that not only can the LORD, teach us to pray, but that prayer can transform the way we serve God and one another.- Pastor Anne
