Easter week is finally here! We have several events planned for this week, and we're going to make sure each one is nothing less than incredible! Look below to see everything we have planned. If you'd like to help out, there are still several ways you can contribute. One way is to sign up to bring something for one of our potlucks!
Read on for more info...
Holy Thursday Meal // April 2nd
Each year on the Thursday night before Easter, we remember the night that Jesus, before his death, sat down with the disciples and they shared a meal together. And it was at that meal that He gave them this commandment, “Love one another as I have loved you.” Jesus, while sharing food and wine with those He loved, reminded them to keeping loving each other because that is how they would continue his work and mission.
Join us again this year for our Holy Thursday dinner, this week from 6:00p - 7:30p! This potluck, organized by Pat Waller, will be a time and space for us to not only remember Jesus’ last dinner with his disciples, but also for us to celebrate each other. We’ll begin with dinner and then finish with communion shared among us. Please email Pat if you'd like to bring something for the potluck! We are still in need of soups and salads (ex. green, fruit or pasta). All ages are invited to participate in the meal and event!
Good Friday Experience // April 3rd
Friday evening, we will have a quiet, somber service in the sanctuary as we recall Jesus last hours before his death. The service will be a Tenebrae service (which means darkening) because as the story is told through the service, the sanctuary will gradually darken in observation of Christ’s death. If you connected with our Ash Wednesdayservice, you will likely encounter this service in much the same way.
(6:30 - 8:00pm in the Sanctuary)
Community Spring Egg Hunt // April 4th
This event is for the whole community! From 9:30a - 11:00a, there will be a community egg hunt in Adams Avenue Park, so bring your basket and get ready for some fun! There will be an air jump obstacle course, crafts table, live DJ, raffles, and more! This is a free event for the whole family. Egg hunts are divided up by age groups so little ones aren’t trampled by eager big kids. Look at the ages and times below, and make sure to be on time! The egg hunt will take place in several different areas around the park.
Egg Hunt for Ages 1-12 years:
Ages 1-3 at 10:00a (separate area)
Ages 4-6 10:00a
Ages 7-9 10:30a
Ages 10-12 10:30a
Easter Sunday // April 5th
The big day is almost here! On Easter Sunday we will have church at the usual time, and celebrate the risen Christ.. But the celebration doesn’t end in the sanctuary! At the end of service, our 7-piece New Orleans Jazz Band will lead us across the street to the community center, where we will have a potluck lunch, dancing, music, Easter egg hunt, and a real Resurrection Celebration! We invite you to come and celebrate from 10:30a - 1:30p, and welcome you to bring your family and friends! Please e-mail Nancy if you're attending and haven't signed up for the potluck yet! We are still in need of desserts, sides, and salads. This is going to be a great celebration!
Thank you for signing up for the Sacred Ordinary e-mail! We have a new format but content will still be the same.
