In Memoriam "Harold Dean Baldwin" from Great Plains Conference of The United Methodist Church of Wichita, Kansas, United States
Harold Dean Baldwin, 83, of Topeka, KS, a clergy member died Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at Midland Hospice House, Topeka. He was born January 3, 1932, in Seminole, OK, the youngest of two sons born to Clifford Olen and Dale (Adams) Baldwin.
Harold attended Seminole and Tulsa public schools and graduated from Will Rogers High School. He attended Tulsa University. He was a member of the Oklahoma National Guard and served with the U.S. Army in Korea.
He moved to Topeka in 1960. He had worked at Payless Shoes, Burger King, Ardan’s, and the State of Kansas (supervisor with titles and registration), retiring in 1997. After retirement he was a United Methodist Church licensed lay pastor, having served the Elmont and Hoyt United Methodist Churches for five years.
Harold was married to Betty Joanne (Winney) Cummings on February 27, 1981, in Topeka.
Surviving are his wife, Betty, of the home; children: Leisa Baldwin of North Dakota, Leslie Baldwin of Montana, and Clifford Baldwin of Florida; step-children: Patti Taylor (Thomas) and Kathleen Cummings, all of Topeka; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Eugene Baldwin; and a step-son, Michael Stanley Cummings, on November 9, 2008.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM, Monday, May 11, 2015, at Oakland United Methodist Church, 801 NE Chester, Topeka. Private interment of cremains will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 3616 SW Sixth Avenue, Topeka.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Monday, at the Oakland United Methodist Church.
