"Be Faithful"
Bible Reading: Revelation 2:8-10
Revelation 2:8 “To the angel of the Messianic Community in Smyrna, write: ‘Here is the message from the First and the Last, who died and came alive again: 9 “I know how you are suffering and how poor you are (though in fact you are rich!), and I know the insults of those who call themselves Jews but aren’t — on the contrary, they are a synagogue of the Adversary. 10 Don’t be afraid of what you are about to suffer. Look, the Adversary is going to have some of you thrown in prison, in order to put you to the test; and you will face an ordeal for ten days. Remain faithful, even to the point of death; and I will give you life as your crown.

Several years ago, I was a graduate student. One day I was typing a term paper. I had typed eight pages when the college's computer system went down. I had not saved what I had typed, so I lost everything. It took me a long time to re-type the paper, but I had to do it. Finally I finished the paper and turned it in to my professor.
This experience reminds me of my Christian life. Sometimes I am sick or have financial problems or have an argument with my friend. These things frustrate and confuse me.
In our Bible Reading for today, Jesus spoke to the church at Smyrna. These Christians faced troubles, too. But Jesus encouraged them by saying, "...be faithful, even if you have to die. If you continue to be faithful, I will give you the reward of life " (verse 10b).
When I face problems in my life, I need to remember Jesus' words. Then I will continue following and serving God every day.[BF]
"Great blessings belong to those who are tempted and remain faithful! After they have proved their faith, God will give them the reward of eternal life."[James 1:12a]
PRAYER: God, I want to stay faithful to You every day of my life. In Jesus' name. Amen.
