Merry Christmas Enote from Pastor Scott Chjrostek for Friday, December 23, 2016 from The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Downtown in Kansas City, Missouri, United States
Greetings RezDowntowners...Merry Christmas Eve Eve!
I remember when I was a child, how excited I would get the week leading up to Christmas. Every day was referenced by its proximity to the best day ever. It would begin five days out with Christmas Eve, Eve, Eve, Eve, Eve and each day as we drew nearer to the night when Christ was born, we would remove the corresponding ‘eve.’ My sisters and I would work ourselves into a frenzy until we got to the 23rd, Christmas Eve Eve. There was one day left to go and we could sense it…
In Kansas City at Resurrection Downtown, we have the surprise blessing of experiencing not just one, but two nights devoted to the excitement, anticipation and wonder of Candlelight Christmas Eve. Starting tonight at 5pm and 7pm we will host the first two of five Christmas Eve Services.
Then on Saturday, we’ll host worship Candlelight Christmas Eve at 3pm, 5pm, and 7pm on December 24th.
At each service we’ll experience the familiar story in word and song. We have a wrapped present for every child in attendance and we’ll also have crayons and activity books. Additionally, each worship service will end with Silent Night with traditional candlelight. I cannot wait! Invite your friends, family neighbors and coworkers and join us in Hailing the Heavenborn Prince of Peace, the light that pierces the darkness.
In the meantime, please check out the following links for more information related to this community in the coming weeks!!!
Merry Christmas!
Worship with Us on Christmas Day! Celebrate and honor the birth of our Savior with a message from Pastor Scott and be a part of the Family-Friendly Hymn-Sing and Worship Service. This 10:45am service will NOT be the same as the Christmas Eve services so come worship with your community!
Happy New Year Services. Start your year out right by spending New Year’s Day with Pastor Scott, who will be preaching, and others in your community. We will have a 9am & 10:45 am service. No other worship services will be offered on Dec. 31 or Jan. 1. The two services will be family-friendly worship with childcare for kids 4 and under!
Resurrection Downtown Holiday Office Hours:
December 26 – 27: Closed
December 28 – 30: Offices will be open from 9am – Noon
January 2: Closed
Starting Tuesday, Jan. 3, regular hours will return to 9 am – 4 pm.
(Our office is located at 1508 Grand Blvd, KCMO 64108, 816.979.1330.)
New Year, New Worship Time! Starting, Sunday, January 8, the new worship time for 1508 Grand will be 10:45am. We are working to make room for all and 10:45am seems to be a hit! This will give folks more opportunities and seats to worship at this popular time. We are grateful for the Grand attenders who are supporting this time change. Would you consider giving Grand a try? You’ll have the same awesome service and music! KiDSCOR will be available to kids from birth to kindergarten.
RezDT JOY IN SERVING GOES INTERNATIONAL – Resurrection maintains missional relationships world-wide. Consider extending the JOY of the season to our international partners by taking information from the Connection Point Christmas tree about Compassion International. Compassion supports children living in poverty in many of our partner countries that you could visit on one of Resurrection’s Global Serve Trips. Save the date, Sunday, January 8, at 12:30 pm at 1508 Grand, for an informational meeting about summer of 2017 Resurrection Downtown Global serve trips to Honduras and Malawi. More details to follow.
