The Upper Room Daily Devotionals in Nashville, Tennessee, United States "As a Little Child" for Friday, 30 December 2016 with Scripture: Luke 18:15-17

The Upper Room Daily Devotionals in Nashville, Tennessee, United States "As a Little Child" for Friday, 30 December 2016 with Scripture: Luke 18:15 People brought him babies to touch; but when the talmidim saw the people doing this, they rebuked them. 16 However, Yeshua called the children to him and said, “Let the children come to me, and stop hindering them, because the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 17 Yes! I tell you that whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God like a little child will not enter it at all!”

In Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith.[Galatians 3:26 (NRSV)]
The family table was set, and we were all excited about beginning the meal. Instead of blessing the food with our usual prayer, we decided to share something for which we were thankful. Some people said friends; some said the food; others said family, home, or community. When it was five-year-old Lila’s turn she said, “I am thankful for God and Jesus.” After she spoke we all realized that she had reminded us of our greatest blessing. There was nothing more for us to say but “Amen.”
The Bible encourages us to become like children because this is the best way to receive God’s promises. Children are often eager to learn from adults, but we adults can all learn from children how to accept things through faith — for as today’s scripture states, “In Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith.”
