A Prayer for the Church for Tuesday, 12 June 2017 - The United Methodist Church Prays in Nashville, Tennessee, United States
TUESDAY, JUNE 13, 2017
A Prayer of Intercession for the global United Methodist Church:
Lord God,
Sometimes it seems that we, Your disciples, are abandoned. But we praise You, God, that we can look to You with hope for the work of the glorified Christ. Let His presence bless and conquer us. Let the UMC have a number of disciples who serve to transform the world through the power of the Holy Spirit. Let no selfish thoughts, wills, and actions exceed the Exalted and Glorified Lord.
The disciples live in the world in their human fragility and weakness. But Jesus is Exalted and Glorified. He is Lord of Heaven and Earth. Just as Jesus interceded for his disciples with his Father, so we also intercede for the Council of Bishops and the Commission on the Way Forward. Since each one of them belongs to God, they do not live to themselves, but to You, God. Bless them in an effort to lead the Church of Jesus Christ in the right direction. Give them protection in this complex and God-distant world, so that the disciples, Methodists, live under the protection of the Most High, connected by faith and love to Jesus. Amen
