Weekly eNote from Pastor Scott Chrostek for Friday, June 9, 2017 - The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Kansas City, Missouri, United States

Hi RezDowntowners,

It has been a crazy week, starting with a quick trip to Memphis! I was invited to share God's story of Resurrection Downtown and The Misfit Mission with the leaders of the Memphis Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.  It was awesome to spend time sharing about the church's missional call to make disciples of all nations.  In these keynotes, I focused on the foundational idea that the church is not simply something to 'go to' but rather it is something we are called 'to go and do.'  The church is mission; it is on the move and it seeks, like Jesus, to meet as many people as possible with a life-changing message of hope!
I am so proud of the way that you embody this at RezDT and I am excited for tomorrow, as we live into this idea faithfully through the first of our three Vacation Bible Camp experiences out in the community.  Meet us at Whittier Elementary School at 9 am for a morning of crazy hope and fun!  There is still time to register, so please sign up here or feel free to email Sarah.Brischle@cor.org with any questions. Another opportunity I invite you to consider is our upcoming Full-On FaithWork with Bless the School, starting next week, June 15 - 23Don’t miss this rewarding chance to take a little time and make a HUGE difference.  Be a part of Resurrection’s Summer Extreme Makeover (school edition)!  The students at Wendell Phillips at Attucks Elementary will be overwhelmed when they return to a school that is a tangible reminder they matter to our community. On Saturday, June 17, our FaithWork efforts will go to Bless the School, and we want to have a huge turnout that morning at 9 am. There are multiple days and times to help.  Sign up online at cor.org/downtown/serve, or right after all of the downtown worship services this weekend.  Email rezdtserve@cor.org with any questions you might have.
Lastly, this weekend we continue our sermon series on Upside Down as we dive deeper into the parables of Jesus.  This weekend will be particularly fun as we discuss the stories Jesus told about parties, banquets and wedding receptions.  It is going to be a great weekend and I have a huge surprise in store for all of you who are in attendance - so believe me when I say, you do not want to miss worship this weekend!  I hope you'll invite friends and join me as we continue this series of sermons.
In the meantime, you'll find a variety of ways below to get connected over the next several weeks.  Be sure to take a look...
